"Calzaghe has fought mostly in Europe against sub-par opposition. He's a European fighter who fights a little better than most Europeans. He relies on workrate but not so much technical boxing. His defense is not so much his criterion; his criterion is offense."

I'm a big Kevin Kelley fan, but he's crazy and probably jealous. He beat Jones and Hopkins. What more can you ask of the guy. He and Golden Johnson could have been an interesting fight, agreed?

names like lacy, kessler, and bika also come to mind. and he only fought one fight against hopkins. and i still dont understand how anybody could have thought hopkins won that fight. he wasnt active enough to win. roy jones was shot ill give you that but it was his fault for signing the fight and you can't make an excuse that a fighter is shot.

i dont agree with him being the modern day sweet pea though. sweet pea had his own unorthodox style and so does joe. but i wouldnt make a comparison between the two.

Seems as though I'm in the minority, but the big difference is that Joe doesn't smoke crack.:smoke

You do have a great point, because RJJ was a beast in his heyday, and he was shot in the Calzaghe fight, but I just think Joe didn't have enough quality opponents at the time to truly judge his ability. Come on, he's better than Ottke.

i never compared him to ottke

i just said ottke was undefeated and no one cares.

i think joe fought 5 guys that were dangerous

biaca, hopkins, kessler, jones and lacy

so hes head and shoulders over ottke.... just dissapointed tht joe waited 12013 years before taking a challenge and defended that garbage wbo title for 10 years

I definitely disagree with that. Calzaghe is a very slick fighter.
