In conjunction with the Heavyweight journeyman thread, if we looked at all the weights there is 1 fighter who stands out

Do you agree Buck Smith should be classed as the all time PVP Journeyman?

However he retired in 2007 - Who is P4P now?

He probably fought more than anymore in the modern era, but he never really took on any real big names regularly, I mean he took on like Buddy McGirt towards the end of Buddy's career, Mark Breland towards the end of his career aswell, past prime JCC, a green Antonio Margarito and all but he always put aside in a few rounds, he never really did what a journeyman was supposed to do and that was give an established name a pretty tough work out and survive the distance.

He just padded what was a ridiculous good record against cans or guys with similarly padded records like Rob Bleakey.

I'm not sure Smith's record really qualifies him in a P4P sense - the competition level just isn't there. Gotta lose to the best to be the best - something like that.

He wins some sort of award, though! Damn!

    :rofl

The guy lost to just about everybody.

EDIT: Damn, just looked to see if he was still fighting, I didn't know he lost EVERY fight.

    :rofl

On another note, would you guys regard Doug Jones as a journeyman? Or more of a lower-level contender.

If it's the former he deserves a mention.

Come on Tommy,Manea had a perfect 0-49 record.I mean sure you ask yourself how the **** did he still get licensed but in rest I think he definetely brough fear to his opponents......TO NOT ****ING KILL THAT ****ING PUNCHING BAG.

On a side note Jones was a solid fighter and arguably beat Ali.

Rob Calloway is still around. Not that he wasn't decent back in the day, but Yory Boy Campas has turned into a hell of a journeyman lately. Obviously, Emmanuel Augustus always gives guys a tough fight. One of my favorites lately, on a P4P level, is Joel Mayo, who over the last few years has been fighting up and comers all the way from super featherweight through super middleweight, including fights against Yuriorkis Gamboa, Mahir Oral and Rafal Jackiewicz. Heck, he fought Gamboa at 132 in one fight, then fought Oral at 162 in his very next fight a few months later.
