My problem is with the assumption that Prescott should have nothing else to do but give Khan the opportunity to avenge his loss.

It's as though Khan lost so that's the wrong result, we better have the fight again to see if we get the 'right' result this time.

Boxing is a sport and in all sports it should be the successul who get the opportunity to move on to the next level, not the pre-fight favourite regardless of the result.

I cannot think of a more spectacular defeat than Khans loss to Prescott, it is a travesty to boxing if Khan gets made a mandatory challenger for a world title shot while that is still fresh.

That's why Khan wants to have a rematch.

Yeah, fair enough, but given the nature of his deeat he should have to do something to earn it and be behind Prescott in the queue for the belts until he does. The nature of Khans win over Barrera should not be enough to confirm the Prescott incident as a blip IMO.

What Khan has done . . . is a silly question.

Khan moved on and fought 2 more fights after losing to Prescott and is now the WBO Intercontinental Light belt holder and the WBA International Lightweight title holder. Now what has Prescott accomplished after beating Khan?

Prescott caught Khan with a solid left and right in the first volley of exchanges in less than 40 seconds of the first round . . . it's not like he owned and punished Khan in a lot of rounds. :D

Prescott is making excuses not to fight the guy again because he knows he's not gonna be lucky next time around.

    The rematch should happen. :deal

Because Khan is the biggest name boxer who is willing to fight him. Admit it or not, Khan is a bigger name than Prescott. Who can give Prescott more money than Khan?

I doubt Khan will even be allowed to fight Prescott again even if he is on the 'shortlist', but if Prescott can beat him again, people who think the first fight was a fluke wont have much ground to stand on. Even Don King said it was a fluke KO.

Exactly . . . we will all have a closure. If it turns out to be for real and not a fluke then Prescott moves higher in the ladder.

Isn't that what all boxers wanted? To prove themselves worthy of taking on the big names on top? :yep

So would it have been better for Prescott to **** around for 5-6 rounds before KOing khan.

There were questions about Khans chin before that fight, it wasn't a fluke that he got KO'd. No-one expected it so early perhaps but it wasn't a fluke that a big puncher KO'd a guy with limited punch resistance.

Khan, now, is in line for a shot at Marquez. The fight probably won't happen but the act is there are other names at lightweight that get Prescott a pay-day.

It's a nonsense that Khan gets a rematch before Prescott can move on purely because Khan's popular.

Did Louis deserve a rematch against Schmelling? :think

(not comparing Khan or Prescott to either)

Don't put words in my mouth. Who said . . . it's better that Prescott **** around for 5 rounds before stopping Khan. I'm saying that it's better and admirable and more convincing if both fighters figure out in more action or exchanges before the stoppage.

Prescott will be DUMB and STUPID not to accept a rematch because now Khan is holding 2 international titles while he has none . . . fact is Khan is rated 13 in the world while Prescott is at 17.

Lame excuse . . . for the remath not to happen. :yep

And you're a MORON for talking about Prescott getting a good
payday at this point. Against who? JMM? Valero? Juan Diaz? Paulus Moses? Michael Katsidis? Ali Funeka? Fernando Angulo? David Dia? Julio Diaz?

You think Prescott can get at shot at these names? If you're not inside the top 10 ratings you don't think about payday . . . you think of how you climb up the ladder and get the attention of the promoters and big NETWORKS . . . and this is exactly Prescott's chance. :deal

WHhy does he need to deserve a rematch? Khan is the A SIDE of the bill. The seller. The ticket man. Prescott's win isn't catapulting him to anything...but a well paid rematch.

It is unfair if khan gets a title shot before prescott. The fact remains that prescott sparked him royal.

    WTF? What's unfair? Fact?

Fact is . . . Khan is still rated higher than Prescott. And it's a good REASON why Prescott should accept a rematch . . . if he wins . . . it's gonna be him taking a shot at the world title . . . not Khan. :D

No one ever said boxing was fair. Especially when it comes to title shots. But the question was "Does Khan deserve a rematch w/ Prescott". Not how should get a title shot 1st.

Is it just me that finds this comment ridiculous?

Put Khan in the ring tomorrow and exactly the same thing will happen, Khan will keep his gloves up as instructed but he'll get smacked hard on the temple again, and the fight will be over in one round again. Khan is a bum.
