I reckon this would have been a very hard fight for him. Urkal's chin was absolute iron and he was a very strong, awkard boxer. He could maul quite well himself. Lets not forget a better version of Kostya had a hard time beating him aswell. In the end I dont think he had the punch or the offensive arsenal to turn the fight from a close loss to a close win. But Ricky would not blow this guy out or easily beat him..no way.
From a historical standpoint = :rofl From a tactical standpoint = :rofl That's some funny ****, Asero. HILARIOUS.
Nobody blows out or beats up Urkal for the most part, that's right, but Hatton wouldn't have much trouble winning this fight. Not much trouble at all.
I still disagree...but whateves. I think Urkal's style and physical attributes...ie his chin and the fact he is probably physically strong enough to match it with Ricky on the inside...make this a nightmare fight for Ricky. Though as I said Urkal's lack of punch doesnt see him bring home the bacon.
He's only defended his 140lbs title 5 times and there's just no way his resume is better than Tszyu's, not even slightly.
+ Former world champ Juan Laporte in his 4th fight (An old featherweight but one that would go on to challenge for two more world titles at 140 after Kostya beat him) Multiple title challenger and future world champ Sammy Fuentes in his 6th fight. Former lightweight champ Livingstone Bramble in his 10th fight. 3 time world challenger, world ranked and well regarded Hector Lopez in his 11th fight. (for reference Hector was in his prime, he had only challenged once for the world strap, he would go on to have two more cracks after Kostya defeated him) Former world title contender Angel Hernandez whos only other loss was to Chavez. And these are just the fights before he challenged for the title. Now these kind of fights arent going to matter heaps in all time rankings but they are not the usual type of opponants you put in with someone with so little fights. At the high end Kostya's isnt that strong..but it is deeper then people give it credit for. What Im getting at is that Kostya established a decent calibre of opposition early and never really dropped that down...even if his most notable wins arent that great..It shows the deepness in his resume that I think is important in ranking someone alltime aswell. If you were to just look at title fights someone like Luis Manuel Rodriguez would be criminally overlooked...even more so then he already is.
