Our training session was a little harder the other night as we had to wear bin bags over our shirts and we had to wear hoodies over the bin bags.
My shirt was wrenched with sweat and i lost 2kg in one training session!

Any one else use this method?

i used to wear a rubber suit which had the same effect.you can lose 10lb in a session, but lose too much salt and i would advise against.

Is this not just water weight though? I would imagine this isnt too helpful to someone looking for sustained weight loss, but good for helping make weight for a fight.

Yes it's water only. It has no use in training whatsoever, as he is not making weight for a fight. All it does is decrease performance when the body can not get rid of excess heat.

Exactly, why did the coaches want you to do this? I don't get why people go through full training sessions in wooly jacket and bottoms too when there is heaters on in our gym which make you sweat buckets anyway.

Well thats the thing he wanted us to get down in weight cos some of the boys are fighting this weekend and I wanted to train harder so he said have a go if i wanted to. He told us not to do it all the time tho cos it yeah it will dehydrate us and this is the first time whilst ive been training that its happened.

It's a well known method for boxers to make a weight. If you are so overweight to use this method, I think you need to reconsider if you will be strong enough when the fight comes.

Uneducated mother****ers use this method. It's amazing how old-school methods with no science behind them carry on just because. Reminds me of religion, totally irrational.
