    Dont Get me wrong I'm As Big A Floyd Fan As The next guy but lets get serious... this guy put the fans in limbo forever... I cant waste my mental energy on him, i dont see why everyone else does... Until he has an OFFCIAL DATE & OFFCIAL OPPONENT and he doesnt drop out of that fight like he did with oscar who cares

    theres so much good stuff happening in boxing right now

    Vitali Klitschko vs. Juan Carlos Gomez,
    sam peter vs eddie chambers
    tim bradley vs kendal holt
    paul williams vs winky
    gamboa on deck to fight again
    juam maneul lopez & lamont peterson on deck to fight again
    taylor vs froch
    hatton vs pacman
    cotto vs clottey
    dawson vs tarver pt 2

    i dont kno why everyone is talking about floyd as if he's the savior of boxing.... i like floyd alot but theres more than enough other stuff going on to fill my apetite

    This fight stinks, and it's on PPV. I don't know why you're excited about two has beens going at it. Anyway, people talk about Floyd because he's a devisive figure. People either love him are hate him. Very few people are indifferent about Floyd.

    On a realer note he IS right. Floyd is retired and has been retired for a while. At this point, he's pretty much just a name people use to rile up his haters/fanboys.

    Because everyone knows he's on hiatus, and not really retired. And because he's the best boxer of the last decade, and supposedly is in talks with JMM. And he's a great heel, and knows how to **** people off.

    Because he's a legend almost mythical in a sense...no one really does what Floyd Mayweather did and comes out undefeated...and nobody really knows how to beat him either.

    The fact is the hate won't let him go...the fans appreciate what he's done.

    Why do we still talk about Joe Louis, Sugar Ray Robinson, Pernell Whitaker, etc.? Probably because they are all-timers in our sport and many fans still enjoy to discuss these figures.

    In terms of why people talk about Floyd in the present tense, I suspect it is largely because he has "retired" before only to come back out, appears he wants to do so again, and IS the best boxer on the planet.
