No, ESPN Classic will be LIVE. It was really 6pm est all along, but they screwed up and didn't take daylight savings time into consideration when calculating the start time of the fight. That's according to CHEF.

I was hoping ESPN would be HD...but Classic doesn't have an HD, so we'll be stuck with a not so good picture.

Two things, ESPN Classic Canada is a totally different channel then the US version and I don't think that ESPN would have showed the fight in HD regardless. They are too cheap to show Champions League in HD, it might be on the HD channel but it is not real 1080i HD.

    LOL @ These people bitchin.

All this means is instead of watching the fight on a delay on ESPN 2, You can watch it live on Classic.

If you don't have ESPN Classic then your plans to see this fight didn't change much. If you have ESPN Classic, you can watch it live (like the rest of us) and THEN watch it on ESPN 2 in HD if you wish.

And boxing fans should have ESPN Classic anyways. On saturday they show all sorts of great fights like Whitaker/McGirt, Ray Leonard/Benitez, Tyson/Douglas and Tyson/Bruno to name a few.

True, hardcore boxing fans will have ESPN classic. But the hope of putting a "free" heavyweight title fight on a basic cable channel might have brought some extra attention to boxing. Boxing could use it. A slot of the Big ESPN is much better than a slot on ESPN Classic or even ESPN 2.

It'll still be on ESPN 2 and I highly doubt the "casual" fan can tell whether it's taped or not. Unless ESPN decides to make it blatantly obvious that it is.

Chef mentioned it earlier. ESPN fugged up the time frame since it is in Germany they got confused with the time the fight starts. Bunch of dumb asses.

What do you mean "If you don't have ESPN Classic then your plans to see this fight didn't change much"... this fight was originally scheduled for regular ESPN. Of course it changes things. There are many people who only have ESPN and not ESPN Classic.. this fight could've reached a much bigger audience and would've given much more exposure to our sport.

Me personally.. I have all the ESPN channels so this change doesn't affect me at all. But I was never bitching about the ability to watch the fight. I'm bitching about ESPN ****ing over the sport of boxing, yet again.

It'll still air ON ESPN 2 AT 7!

It wasn't going to be aired live on ESPN 2. It was going to be aired on TAPE ****ing DELAY!

It's still going to air on TAPE DELAY except now if you have ESPN Classic, You can see it live. Christ almighty NOTHING has changed except now ESPN has covered it live on a different channel.

False. The fight was originally supposed to be on ESPN, live!

And ESPN2 is not ESPN. A lot of cable subscribers dont even have ESPN2, much less ESPN Classic.. so yes, this is a huge downgrade in terms of exposure for the sport of boxing to the casual sports audience.

It was NOT supposed to be aired live. ESPN ****ed up on the timing and it was NOT going to be aired live..CHEF (who is a poster here with ties to team Klitschko) said ESPN ****ed it up and it would be aired on tape delay.

And the fight was never a lock for ESPN either.

This was earlier this week from ESPN's own Dan Rafael:

Gomez (44-1, 35 KOs) is the mandatory challenger for Klitschko (36-2, 35 KOs) and they will meet in Stuttgart, Germany, on Saturday in the first live heavyweight title bout in ESPN history (5 p.m. ET).

And this is from last month, again, from the boxing writer for ESPN:

It is great for boxing that the heavyweight title bout between Vitali Klitschko and Juan Carlos Gomez will be televised live on ESPN on March 21. And that's the big network. The Uno. Not ESPN2 or ESPN Classic. To make a fight of that significance available on basic cable, rather than the more limited availability of HBO (or even more limited availability of Showtime), is great for the sport. Now, just two wishes: (1) That it be an entertaining bout, and (2) ESPN gets behind it a little bit and makes sure viewers know it's on. Fingers crossed.

ESPN sucks................ ESPN2 is only slightly better....... ESPN Classics is 99% of the time re-runs, but still worth watching....... I have all three channels........... Peace...
