Just watched Khan MAB last night and I think:

Khan is too aggressive. You know how quality fighters can flip a switch and up the tempo when the opposition is hurt? Well Khan fights like this all the time, I think in the past his only defence was his offence so he just throws and throws in order to stop anything coming back at him. If and whenm he starts mixing in world class opposition this will have to change.

Khan is still wide open when he throws. No matter how much Roach will work on Khan he will ALWAYS hang his chin out to dry as he throws. Some fighters, like MAB for example, get leverage from low down, right from the soles of his shoes. This means that he can stay compact, chin tucked down and kind of pounce with hooks. Khan is the other type of fighter who gets leverage from his upper body. This means he leads with his head and stretches out his neck and shoulder and then swings his arm round to follow. It's hard to explain but basically Khan has an extended neck when he throws, if he changed that style he would lose a lot of his speed.

The cut didn't affect the fight ....much. MAB, as silly as it may sound, is a fighter who could almost fight with his eyes closed. He tucks up, like a coiled cobra, and when he feels a right hand land on him explodes out of his shell with 2 or more left hooks. Khans size, speed and reach negated this and Khan had been well versed not to get into a brawl, so this MAB tactic was negated. I honestly think Khan would have beaten a prime MAB. MAB was a better fighter than Khan will ever be. But when you go up the weights there is always a point at which you'll get found out. Otherwise I suppose PBF would be heavyweight champion.

So the conclusion? Khan fought a faded, small, former great fighter and will get his ass handed to him whenever he fights a fighter with either equal(ish) speed or equal or greater reach (this can negate the quick in-out footwork) I think Khan HAS to rematch Prescott. It's the only redemption in my eyes.

Khan can be summed up simply as a young, raw talent.

Regardless of whether he achieves greatness it will be fun to see his journey and i will follow with respect and interest.

More Khan's please. Glass jaws or not.

Gamboa and Berto both have faster hands P4P than Amir Khan, but Khan still has great speed.

Khan shouldn't expect any accolades if all he is going to do is fight old timers on his way to the top. Marco was the logical opponent, but I now want to him to face Prescott or another young gun like Moses. He needs to do it the right way.

    Dont laugh SD.

I'm sure he would have studied the subject material extensively before coming out with such a bold statement.

I'm also sure that he has a vast knowledge of the game, and hasn't just been watching boxing since the Olympics in 2004 when Khan won his silver medal.

I disagree 100%. I think the only way Khan is going to be able to protect his fragile whiskers is by keeping his offense on 100% at all times and making it difficult for the opponent to counter because there's never a good opening.

I think warrens realises that no matter what fighter khan fights he could be ko'd. Therefore he might as well fight known names so he can come back if he loses. We might see a rapid rise to world level here.

That works, but only against a certain level of opposition. When he steps up to world class these guys can see openings and exploit them even during his flurries. Club boxers can both defend and attack, world class fighters can do both at the same time.

I think roach will never ever let amir near to Prescott till he is not 100% satisfied with his defence.
