I'm going to attempt and make some order out of the little blokes and their head to head fighting abilities.

My list is of course provisional and there's always more to learn, but this is an attempt to place fighters in their best weight categories.

I have decided to leave out fighters that I haven't seen at least half an hour's worth of prime weight footage. Hence, there'll be no listing of fighters like Jimmy Wilde, Pascual Perez, Pancho Villa, Fidel LaBarba, Frankie Genaro, Peter Kane, Midget Wolgast, Newsboy Brown, Jimmy Warnock, Jimmy Barry, Joe Symonds, Tancy Lee, Venice Borkhorsor etc.

Also, I'm leaving out more recent guys like Leo Gamez, Gerry Penalose and Masamori Takuyama, that I haven't seen much footage of.

Also, I've left out guys that still have something to prove and are works in progress. Hence, no Vic Darchynian, Nonito Donaire, Ivan Calderon, Cristian Mijares etc.

    Anyway, onto the lists:

    105 Pounds
Ricardo Lopez (has anyone else worth a damn fought in this division that I'm forgetting?)

    108 POUNDS
    Jung Koo Chang
    Hilario Zapata
    Yoko Gushiken
    Myung Woo Yuh
    Humberto Gonzalez
    Michael Carbajal

    112 POUNDS
    Fighting Harada
    Miguel Canto
    Hiroyuki Ebihara
    Horacio Accavallo
    Masao Ohba
    Mark Johnson
    Yuri Arbachakov
    Shoji Oguma
    Fidel Bassa
    Betulio Gonzalez
    Santos Laciar
Chan Hee Park (on his best night would be higher up the list, but he's a head case)
    Salvatore Burruni
    Hilario Zapata
    Pone Kingpetch
    Chartchai Chionoi
    Effren Torres
    Chatchai Sasakul
Walter McGowan (more a reflection of his vulnerability to cuts than his boxing ability)
    Pongsaklek Wonjongkam
    Martin Vargas

    115 POUNDS
    Johnny Tapia
    Jiro Watanabe
    Sung Kil Moon
    Santos Laciar
    Gilberto Roman
    Nana Konadu
    Gustavo Ballas

Any thoughts? Suggestions? Want to add to the list? Re-shuffle it? Give it a go :good

I suppose Galaxy could make an appearance at some point...maybe not yet though on your list so far sweet.

Tokuyama is worth a mention but definitely not on the level of those guys...I reckon he could almost shut out Moon early on but 10 times out of 10 he would get caught at some point. As his athletic moves lost their effectiveness when he got tired..I reckon Ive seen him knocked down or at least lose every 12th round I have seen him in.
A level down from the ones listed, probably doesnt make it past Galaxy.

Alvarez might be worth adding, he gave Lopez a pretty good go. There is a thai dude his name escapes me Sakerin? He wasnt to bad.

Can we please add Baby Jake at some stage? :) Little buzzsaw midget he was.

    Nice suggestions :good

Fahlan Sakkreerin is probably the bloke you're thinking of. Haven't seen him fight myself, so I can't say...

Galaxy should be on the list, you're right. Probably before Ballas seems about right.

Yeah Baby Jake deserves a shout. Bring on the midgets!

Thats the one..Tell you the truth though I saw him late in his career losing, against Burgos and I think on points to Dieppa.

But saw some highlights of him Thailand earlier one against guys I didnt recognise. Pretty slick operator.

He would not beat any of those guys though asero.

Remember this is a young, raw and weight drained Pac we are talking about at flyweight.

I do think if he fought Chatchai 10 times that result wouldnt repeat itself..great win nonetheless.

Good to see McGowan in there. I recently saw the two Chionoi fights and I couldn't give Chionoi a round in the two fights. The first especially where McGowan outclassed him. Unlucky both times.

    What about Chitalada actually?

Ive always been a supporter of Pong, probably the best flyweight since too sharp when he was at his best, but Im pretty sure most consider Sot the superior flyweight.

Yes, another very good fighter. When you consider he was always battling against the scales as well.

Shame. He'd at least move halfway up the flyweight list with better skin.

why did he beat sasakul in his own country...it's not luck...had in been pure luck, there would be a rematch...sasakul is a decent fight with a decent resume

    Cheers flea.

If nothing else comes out of the thread, I hope it encourages people to seek out fights with the guys listed here, and form their own opinions.

There's been a heck of a lot of talent in this weight division, something I've only discovered recently to tell you the truth, and I hope others seek out the fights of these guys because they are missing out if they don't see them in action.

Forget the heavyweights, flyweight is where its at! :deal

Wasn't luck, but at the same time, it's unlikely to happen all that often, and as his bouts subsequent to that fight showed, he was still a bit away from consistently putting up world class performances.

I suppose with his punch Pac would be an issue, and he could definitely deck a couple of other guys on the list if he fought them enough times, but more often than not he will receive embarrassing schoolings.

Never said it was luck...Manny threw a punch, it hit Chatchai, he got knocked out..where is the luck?

But believe me a flyweight Manny gets smashed by just about all those guys, to say anything otherwise is just silly..he just wasnt that good a fighter yet.

As for a rematch..there was hardly time really as Pac was stopped and gone from the division in less then 10 months after the win.

Im pretty sure I have read that Sasakul's stock dropped pretty quickly after the loss, I dont know if he was that popular..Dont quote me but Im sure someone on here was telling me this.
That might explain his record and lack of any meaningful fights over the next few years after the loss.
