This content is protected King Kong This content is protected Raging Bull This content is protected This content is protected VS This content is protected Huge respect to the Armenian Raging Bull! Gary Shaw wasn't full of **** when he stated Vic Darchinyan will move up, and instead of taking a BW tune-up, will go straight against huge punching IBF champ, Joseph King Kong Agbeko, so no more low money fights at SFW, where Vic is the undisputed champion. "The fight is made. That's breaking news." - said Gary Shaw to Rafael, and confirmed that the fight will be on Showtime, sometime in the Summer. It's a very exciting fight between two big punchers, and IMO Agbeko, 26-1, 22KO, should be favored based of height, size, weight and power advantage. Like a typical Darchinyan fight, Agbeko beat down 2-weight champ Luis Alberto Perez in 7 rounds to win the title, and defended in a very exciting 12 rounder vs. Williams Gonzalez. Agbeko is no pushover, took numerous huge shots from power punching Gonzalez, and while had to deal with some scary moments, overcame the tough southpaw to win on points. Perez was also a southpaw, so it's safe to say that unlike Mijares or Arce, Vic will have no advantage based on his stance. It will take a very smart fight, good defense and full grown BW body and power to beat King Kong, and Darchinyan, originally from Flyweight, might be asking for too much trouble here. At this very moment, Agbeko should be favored. What an excellent news! Showtime might've found the next Fight of the Year match-up, and huge respect to Darchinyan for willing to risk his top10 P4P status in such a dangerous fight. :happy :happy :happy
damn...im kinda shocked that should be a good ass fight King Kong is a really good fighter...lets see how Vic does against him
Is Agbeko really that good? I've never seen him fight. Going by boxrec, he's retired and come back years later and only beat Perez, who lost a big UD to Cordoba (??) and then this guy Gonzalez, who looks like he has a very padded record... ...so...why are people so excited about this? Anyone really think Agbeko has more than the usual puncher's chance? If Vic is really as good as we think he is, he shouldn't worry then, right? I mean, this guy will not have been fighting for a year and a half either! :huh We all love Vic and want him to win, and this fight could be exciting whilst it lasts, but is Vic, one of the best fighters in the world, supposed to be challenged by this guy? Couldn't a better opponent be found, without going right for the best?
darchinyan was already a badass in my eyes when he fought gorrez, kirilov and mijares one after the other.
wow, that looks like a great matchup. even if the prospect of a donaire rematch looks dim, this fight is'nt a soft touch for vic. would be intersting to see how darchinyan carries the extra 3 pounds.
only seen Agbeko fight twice, he aint look anything special in either 1, but he did look very tough and very game so it should be a war, my brains telling me Vic should take this 1, but my guts tellin me i shouldn't be so sure....i'll be sure to watch though, good fight
He is more then likely to softest option at 118...when I say softest I mean most winnable for Vic. Even non-title holders like Montiel, Mabuza and Mares could be harder fights. Hasegawa and Penalosa (when he is there) would be heavy favs over Vic IMO. Interesting fight however, one that could see Vic's questionable whiskers truly tested..Vic wont be the bigger man in there, he may not even be the bigger puncher. I think he will have to really on his speed and awkwardness...I could see him racking up the rounds but if he can sustain the pace against the physically bigger and possibly as strong guy Im not so sure. Great fight..again Vic shows he aint afraid to take the tough challenges..But Id like to see him take on Donaire next, UNLESS by some miracle he can cash out against Izzy.
One of the many reasons I've such a huge fan of Vic. The man not only says he'll fight anyone but he gets the fights made and takes huge risks too. A lot of fighters could take a lesson from Vic. He's a fantastic fighter who actually backs up what he says. Can't wait for this one!
