Because Pascal isn't close to Bute's level.

 

Because Pascal has lost about a year and a half of his developmental time due to injuries. I wouldn't be surprised if they continued to bring him on slowly (post Froch) due to the way injuries have slowed his progress.

Its a very good question. Maybe two or three yeas ago it was close but now Bute stock are rising and Pascal stock are stagnant. Froch has beaten Pascal with a very basic boxing skill, medium defense, some jab and good movement. Bute got all the tool Froch has, except pure power. So Bute would beat Jean very easily in my point of view. Pascal has good speed, good power, but poor defensive skill and poor movement, based on this, it would almost be a mismatch.

Jean has all the tools to go to the top but needs to put them all together and work on fundamentals...

I've asked this same question years ago. It makes no sense that this fight hasn't happened yet. It would be a mega fight for Canada.

 

This fight will be bigger in future, once/if Pascal improves and proves to be a world class fighter. No point in spoiling what could be a very good matchup by acting prematurely. I take the same stance on Dirrell and Ward too, vis-a-vis proven world class fighters, like Bute. All in good time...:good

This fight would be big right now, in Montreal. For it to be huge, at least 40% of the casual fans in Montreal need to believe that Pascal would beat Bute. They don't, currently...not by a long way...:conf
