Roy has a Glass Jaw refused to take risks handpicked 98% of his fights etc. The guy did not even fight the best fighters in his weight class. He was a media creation by HBO and even they started to criticize him.

well glass jaw jones had the sack to jump in the ring with a 226lb hw when he was 193 himself. i don't care how bad ruiz was/is...that takes some balls...even more so if you have a glass jaw

Yep. It does take balls, and I don't believe that Roy had a glass jaw. If he had, he wouldn't have gone undefeated for so long, and won a heavyweight title. If he had a glass jaw he wouldn't have had the epic and brilliant career that he has done. But that doesn't stop Rico talking crap. He says Hamed had a glass jaw, despite the fact Hamed only ever lost one time, on points, to an ATG. :D

RJJ might not not have the greatest ever resume, but RJJ could beat any ATG LHW.

as i said before, the only thing roy stands to 'hurt' by continuing to fight is his health. what he did in his prime cannot be changed and people will remeber that (now or later). he's now much like larry holmes who i'm sure people were criticizing in the mid 90's when he was still fighting but is still considered an atg and highly rated on this forum (too much i think, but...). also like the older holmes, imo roy is still competitve and can beat a lot of lhw/smw even if he cannot beat the elite, so as long as he realizes the health risks then i've got no problem with him fighing on.

    i hear ya...but like i said earlier

"but i don't want young kids or people who are just starting to keep up with boxing to have watched that fight and say.."thats rjj i thought he was one of the best??"

but his health is a concern too..i agree

they'll be plenty of 'old heads' and youtube videos around to educate the young kids on what kind of fighter jones was in his prime. also, jones has already looked as 'bad' as he will probably ever look (when he got starched by johnson for example) and that was like 5 years ago, so whatever 'damage' to his rep he has done is already done

Eventually it will damage his legacy like Evander has his. However there's a good post on Yahoo about Jones. At 40 there's probably 2 active (Hopkins and Dawson) LHW's that he would have no chance against, other than that he would have a chance in most fights at that division. But the fact that most of us Roy fans remember him from when he was superman kills us all.

My old man can say when he was growing up he had Ali etc, as the great, grandad can say Sugar Ray Robinson, older brother can say Sugar Ray Leonard.
I'm happy enough, that when I'm older, I can say when I was young there was Roy Jones Jr!!
(please note that the dates I have given arn't a true reflection on my family or their age)
