Yep a lot of people just don't appreciate the lower weight classed. But usually in those classes everyone fights everyone else.
Not really. It's been just the opposite for the past 10 years. Problem is that a large chunk of the better fighters in these weights come from completely different parts of the world, and thus without a mandatory, the people who fight in Japan only face others who fight in Japan, the people who fight in Thailand only face people who fight in Thailand, the people who fight in Mexico only face the people who fight in Mexico, and any of them only fight in the US after they become a big name.
Lads, I know little about this weightclass and this King Kong fellow. I didn't see him fight ever; (I saw Adamek v. Cunningham on youtube). If anyone cared to enlighten me a bit more, I'd be ever so grateful. I already invited posters to so so, but, alas, with very limited success. Yours, Decebal
i like this fight a lot. 2009 great year for boxing http://answers.yahoo.com/question/i...NLhTfjDty6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20090315180320AAFuKHj
Please deal with reality, brutha. The Jap has never fought outside of his own country & you're not blaming Vic for not wanting to fight him? Please.
I agree. Hasegawa is all wrong for Vic. Who wants to see Vic in with an overrated Japanese creampuff who is too $h!t scared to set foot outside of his own country?
Gerry is too I reckon...Slick, great chin and pretty decent pop. Proven himself against bigger fighters then Vic. Im hearing that Hasagawa is getting discontented with his situation in Japan...they apparently moved him to some other network that isnt as popular or something like that. Maybe just maybe he might venture out of Japan...Keep an eye on it.
He is there because thats the best option for him..he gets good coin there, he gets recognition there. Why leave to fight for peanuts in the states to appease a few fans who dont give a **** what you do anyway? Hozumi has the best resume at the weight right now. But as I stated in the previous post..he may not be all that happy with his current arrangement.
Boxer-puncher with a decent workrate and good strength. Better at working on the outside than on the inside, but can get inside and fight dirty, just won't stay there. One of those guys who likes to lunge in to punch and throws his shots wide, which is why I think Vic should well against him. Has shown a tendency to fade late in fights. I can't think of too many good comparisons, maybe a faster but more awkward version of Timothy Bradley? Edit: His defense is worse than Bradley's, and his workrate is a lot higher, so it's not really a good comparison. In come ways he reminds me of Sakio Bika, but not at all in other ways. Let's just say he's fun to watch and leave it at that.
Vic is truly great for the sport. To fight this level of competition in such a short period of time is simply UNHEARD of with any top fighter. With most champions fighting once, or at most twice per year and often defending against voluntary nobodies (e.g. Pavlik) . . . Vic has fought 4 times against TOP SHELF fighters the past 12 months, and this will be his 5th fight in about 14 months. Now tell me any other fighter who takes these risks on. Just imagine if more top fighters did this.
