Hasegawa would get his ass kicked. If Hasegawa wants to move up, there's more money and a better chance of beating the guys at 122. With his style, Hasegawa would have a decent shot at beating Caballero, IMO.

On the other hand, it would make sense for John to take this fight. Boxers still make decent coin in Japan, and he's been televised in Japan a lot more than he has in the US.

"The Jap" is currently the best BW on this planet, so why would he leave home if he's the one to beat?

but like i said, i think Hasegawa has little to no chance of beating John, i'd much rather see him fight Montiel, Vic, Agbeko, Nonito, Mares, etc..

he must think very highly of himself (or lowly of John) if he thinks he can skip a weight class and beat the best FW in the world

This would be a very good fight. Hasegawa is no push-over.

Im all for this fight but it would be a bad idea on Hasegawa's part..

John would kick his ass all over the place.. Against Hasegawa, John's punching power would look devastating.

I'd favor John to win but I wouldn't mind seeing this one. Of course I would like to see John in the states again and beat Juarez who I thought he already beat anyway.

Most fans in the "know" would know who Hasegawa is. Casual fans like you would not.:smoke

I agree that was a robbery. Maybe Hozumi should not jump a weight class either. 122 is full of good fighters if he wants to fight at that weight.

JBC(Japan Boxing Commission) is not currently allowing Japanese boxers to fight under IBF and WBO. So, Japanese champions with world title have difficulty in fighting for unification bouts. There is controversy among Japanese boxing fans about that.

Anyway, both Hasegawa and the fans wants big matches outside of Japan, especially in the US;however, no specific opponents are announced so far. I think it is mainly due to his promotional issues.
Teiken promotion, which backs up Jorge Linares and used to do so Edwin Valero, could possibly contribute to Hasegawa's debut in the US. Teiken promotion has good relationship with GBP and Top Rank. But what step Hasegawa's team will take in the next stage has been unclear for now.
Six days ago, some Japanese newspaper reported that Vic Darchinyan was considering to challenge Hasegawas's title. But Vic will fight Agbeko.

However, keep an eye on Hasegawa! He,his team and the fans definitely want his name to be known to the world!
