The Ring title? I don't even recognize that title. They picked who was 1 and 2, not me. Wlad beat Byrd who beat vitali who fought and beat sanders who beat Wlad who beat Byrd lol. Does Vitali have the lineal title now? It is the same title he had before he retired...the lineal title.

Ok, I understand what you're saying. Rather than get into an extended debate, we can agree to disagree.

If you think that Vitali was the lineal champion, then you considered Sanders to be the #2 heavyweight at the time Vitali defeated him.

If you don't think that Vitali was the lineal champion, then you considered Chris Byrd to be the #2 heavyweight at the time Vitali defeated Sanders. I agree with the latter group.

Even so, there has to be a question about Vitali surrendering his status as champion when he retired for 4 years. 4 years is a very long time; boxing moves on. I don't think he has a right to be considered champion if he's been inactive for that long.

    For German speakers:

    King Arthur bereits Nummer vier

    Summary:

Arthur's record (10 defenses) is the 4th best in the list of middleweight title defenders. Only 3 guys have more defenses. These guys are Hopkins (20), Monzon (14) and Hagler (12).

    You're missing my point.

I'm pointing out the lack of sense (and consistency) in determining who is a paper champ and who isn't.

By the logic of the post i responded to, all of those listed are paper champs in that they did not beat the lineal champ to get their title.

The single most important attribute of the championship is public acceptance.

Different folks can have different methods as to how they bestow recognition.

But, at the end of the day, if the great majority of the boxing public sees you as the champ, then effectively, that's what you are.

Arthur Abraham is a titlist, not a champion.

So, youre suggesting he is the champion?

Please take a trip down that path. It'll be laughable.

Suggesting???:nut We have 3 champs, and one of them is lineal, one has like 9 or 10 defenses, and the other won't fight either of them. Pav's greedy ass should give up his mw title on gp just for being greedy after that ass kicking he received from the old man lol...
