the fight since margo doesn't count as jennings shouldm't have been in the same ring as cotto. i don't agree cotto's resume is better:

    • cotto's only ever fought for vacant titles, hattons beaten lost of belt holders.
    • cotto has yet to beat a current top 10 p4p fighter. hatton's beaten 2 top 10 p4p fighter. (koysta #3 & castillo #8 )
    • hatton's best win over p4p #3 koysta is better than a close win over mosely who wasn't in the top 10.
    • cotto's loss, quitting against a guy not in the top 25 p4p is much worse than losing against the p4p #1 outside of his natural weightclass.
    but we'll agree to disagree.

You stated your case but I think the Hatton win over Tszyu is a bit overrated. Not saying it's no good. I don't think to say Cotto quit is fair at all. Cotto beat a much better version of Mallignaggi, beat Mosley, beat Judah, beat an undefeated Quintana and Torres. :hat

Hatton's resume is very weak for an elite fighter. And hes had a few gift decisions

was he a better fighter when cotto fought him or did hatton make a lot easier work of it? malignaggi hadn't won a belt when cotto fought him, he was more experienced by the time hatton fought him, having won and defended his belt a few times. judah was past it but still a good win, an old mosely was a decent but very close win, and torres and quintana were relatively inexperienced, both having never fought for a title before.

Hatton fought Paulie well but I don't think he was as good as when he fought Cotto and he had not looked real great in a few previous fights. One thing is certain, the answer of who should be higher will be answered without a doubt on May 2nd.

lol, so what are the "few gift descisions"? he won a close UD off collazo, which if you're calling that a gift you don't know what a gift means. apart from that i can't think of any other fight he hasn't won clearly.

his resume is not bad as good as fighters like cotto, and will improve when he beats pac and jmm.

That's asking a lot to beat both but if he does he goes to #1!

I cannot see Margarito diessapearing after his loss. I still put him above Cotto. I see you are a Valero fan, but be frank, Valero has not faced any top10 fighters besides Mosquera, so it is unfair to put him in top 25. How can you miss Wladimir Klitchko, who has been ruling the HW divison for years now and put there Valero? Roman Gonzalez? Man...

Here is my version, comments welcome:
    1. Manny Pacquiao
    2. Juan Manuel Marquez
    3. Bernard Hopkins
    4. Israel Vasquez
    5. Shane Mosley
    6. Rafael Marquez
    7. Ivan Calderon
    8. Ricky Hatton
    9. Vic Darchinyan
    10. Antonio Margarito
    11. Miguel Cotto
    12. Nonito Donaire
    13. Kelly Pavlik
    14. Paul Williams
    15. Wladimir Klitschko
    16. Chad Dawson
    17. Chris John
    18. Celestino Caballero
    19. David Haye
    20. Mikkel Kessler
    21. Jermain Taylor
    22. Hozumi Hasegawa
    23. Arthur Abraham
    24. Jorge Linares

That's a good list but can't see Margarito above Cotto. Good list overall. I think Juanma Lopez should be in there.

Hopkins shouldn't be higher than 3.

Pacquiao shouldn't be lower than 2

Calderon shouldn't be higher than 8/9 at most.

Lopez top 10 is laughable, especially ahead of Marquez

    Cotto shouldn't be above Hatton.

Darchinyan shouldn't be above around 9/10.

    Forrest shouldn't be top 20.

    Valero shouldn't be anywhere near.

    Gonzalez shouldn't be anywhere near.

    Linares shouldn't be top 25.

Guys like Kameda, Ortiz, Dimitrenko, Antillon or nowhere near a top 25.
