I recall years ago Frank Bruno fought Chuck Gardner. I could not believe it when I saw him at the press conference as he looked worse than my granddad.

A few years later Herbie Hide fought Purcell Davies. A massive fat bloke who was drinking in the bar before the fight.

I assume there are equally bad or worse examples elsewhere

I remember back when I saw an old George Foreman in the squared circle with a young, fresh Shannon Briggs. All I could do was shake my head and think to myself, "Goddam, George, you've reached a new low."

I hate to support a popular insult of my favorite fighter, but I was there for Roy Jones Jr.'s mandatory "defense" against part-time fight Richard Frazier.

Calzaghe is certainly not my fighter. But if we are talking about worst opponents Tocker Pudwill takes some beating.Even Joe could not carry Pudwill for 12 rounds and Tocker became one of the welsh bores few ko victims.

Hakkar was a pretty terrible opponent for Hopkins. The WBC had him rated number one.

They also threw Cotto in there with a "Contender" . . . they threw B-Hop in there with some Frenchman who actually was a "European titlist," whatever that's supposed to mean. I believe all one has to do to earn that title is successfully vanquish his woman. Turns out the Frenchman doubled as a track star. Who woulda guessed? They fed Hatton a steady diet of stiffs for as long as I can remember and Tyson used to dine on a bum about every four fights. Trainers tell me it keeps your blood pumping.

He spent the first few rounds skipping around, terrified to engage. It was like pulling a 12 year old boy out of PE and throwing him in with the champ.

Well recently, when R rated holt fought Hopkins, i thought that was a joke.

And Floyd fighting Henry Bruseles was disgraceful too.
