I've never been so happy to be wrong. Mike McGurn and the nutritionists I take my hat off to you then I eat it.

The winning of the fight was in his training. He ate some heavy leather tonight and came through and he showed a real pop in his punches. We all knew he had the skills for world class but punch resistance and lack of power were what I thought would hold him back.

He was stronger than I have ever seen. We all knew he had the heart for a fight and his extra strength helped him through. A ****ing warrior. Unbelievable. I cannot believe how strong he was. How he got up from the second knockdown I do not know. On any other night of Dunnes fight career that was game over. But he got up and came back stronger. Bernard Dunne CHAMPION OF THE WORLD.

I've never know anything like it. If he trains like this and comes in this strong for every fight there is no one, and I mean no one, that he cannot hang with. Taped the fight and watched it when I got home. The shots he took through the fight were hard, heavy and clean and he just kept coming back again and again.

McGurn, Hawkins, Benny King everyone take a bow for your part in it. They gave him the tools and he went out there, on the back of what must have been the hardest training of his life by about 200%, and showed everyone what a class act he is.

Honestly, I still can't believe it. It was amazing. I couldn't deal with it. I live nearby so I only legged it down for his fight. I watched the rest on the box. I was so nervous I thought I was going to get sick. I think the people beside me would have found that easier to deal with than the fact that I started crying when he won. Honestly, I would have thought I'd be embarrased to cry in public but I couldn't give a ****. What a night, what a man.

    BERNARD DUNNE - WORLD CHAMPION

no matter what happens they can never take that away from him. never. its there for the record books. I don't think I'll be able to sleep for hours I'm absolutely buzzing

No I didn't meet any of the boys. Truth be told I didn't drink tonight. I got sick after I had my dinner and thought better of it. Now I'm a poxy cook at the best of times but it was the nerves that did it. It was either get shitfaced to beat the nerves but I wanted to take it all in so I went for the other option of going down there late so I wouldn't have to wait all night to see him.

I'm sitting here watching the fight again.

Some of the shots he took were ****ing wicked. He went to a whole new level. I'm amazed. He always had the skills and the heart but his punch power/resistance went to a place it has never been.

They say on the RTE commentary at the end that Cordoba goes down in the 11 due to fatigue and not punch power per se. I have to disagree slightly. Sure the kid was tired but the cumulative effect of eating left hooks and straight rights all night it was knackered him. I hope he is okay.

dunnes punch picking 2night was superb...along with the tactics he employed...from the left hook right hand...til the hooks up the midrift...which took there toll on cordoba staying power...outside of the two knockdowns in the 5th and the bad 10th....dunne fought the perfect fight 2night:good
