What are your thought's on joint Boxing/MMA cards?

I think it is a good idea. It helps both sports. Allows both to tap into the fan base of the other.

 

It makes sense from a business point of view.

I'm just hoping that the MMA fans wake up and realise that boxing is far more entertaing

 

I'm all for it too. As to which is more entertaining, let the fans decide. As far as I'm concerned fighting is fighting and regardless of whether it's boxing or MMA it's both entertainment. I'm certainly not going to give either a pass. If boxers what to be the more entertaining of the two then get out there and fight like it.

I think they pretty much suck;not only is a boxing ring just the wrong arena for mma, but even when it is used it needs to be much bigger than what is used in a boxing match.

Combined muay Thai and boxing works well and combined mma and grappling can work like in zst or deep.

 

I think its a great idea, I thoroughly enjoyed that card. I know that the MMA side wasn't top fighters, but they were matched well.

I am really a huge fan of both sports and its nice to see them both on one card. That promotion may eventually attract bigger fighters soon. I imagine guys like Arlovski would have an interest there. | am also glad RJJ wants to keep going.

 

I've always said that cards should combine the sports. I would iinclude a kickboxing match and submission wrestling match as well. I thought the card was a moderate success. Some of the fights were less than exciting - but they get an A for effort. I like that they had separate color commentators for the boxing and MMA.

 

I wish they kept Seth and Nate for all the fights. I give them definitely an A for effort, like I said I suspect that bigger fighters will come to this promotion, and we may get some good novelty fight out of it lke big name boxers taking mma fights and vice versa.

Hopefully it turns some of my friends on to boxing because I am tired of seeing some great fights and nobody even knowing who I am talking about the following monday lol.

Boxing IS a martial art. Just like many of the other fight/defense/hand combat disciplines.

 

I suppose it might be good for both sports, theoretically, but that's assuming there are boxing fans out there now that don't know about MMA or vice versa. Frankly, when I buy an MMA PPV card I want to see MMA matches, which I find more interesting, faster, and basically just more intense than boxing matches. Boxing matches seem to take forever, and I don't like the larger gloves.

I guess, it's good theoretically for people who aren't familiar with both sports, but I don't want to watch boxing in a PPV when I could just watch a full MMA card.
