...a B- to B level fighter, with plenty of chin-ks [won't let me write the whole word] in his armour...who's best win came against fellow prospect Pascal.

Why are you so heavily invested in this thread if you think he's a b- level fighter?

This fight is obviously the best that has been made in the SMW division since Kessler - Calzaghe.

I could easily say Taylor is an over-rated former HBO hype job, who was lucky to get a draw with Winky, struggled with natural welterweight Cory Spinks and was perhaps even luckier to get 2 wins over a very poor Bernard Hopkins. He was then exposed against the first primed natural middle he faced, and then had to step up to 168 and take on the awful Jeff Lacy, who's been awful since the Calzaghe fight and his shoulder operation, and still get floored on the way to winning.

You have little credit left with me, MrMagic, now that you've failed to back your man, after complaining about the "no fan" nick I gave him. Misquoting what I wrote doesn't win me over either, in these circumstances...

The best fight that has been made in the SMW division since Calzaghe v. Kessler, in my opinion, is Bute v. Andrade. Both are proven world class fighters, both are at least B level, and that was a perfect styles match-up. It was as close as it could get too...

...still, there are a some people here who thought Froch v. Pascal was a FOTY candidate, so, I won't comment further.

    :hi:

    Uhm ok.. and point is?
You didn't even answer my Q, which was.. if you think this is such a farce, why are you so deeply invested in it?

Ofcourse you'll think that Bute vs. Andrade was the best fight made, you're a Bute nuthugger of the highest form.. if only Andrade had the skills of a JT or even a Carl Froch... :D

If you think I'm a Bute nuthugger of the highest form, why are you interested to find out my views about this match-up, or my interest in it?

Don't answer that. It was a rhetorical question.

The guy is a talented athlete more than a talented fighter.

But his poor defence, suspect stamina and therefore shaky whiskers are intangibles that will cost you if you fight Carl 'The Cobra' Froch. :smoke

It is the biggest SMW fight since Kessler Calzaghe, its bigger than any fight Calzaghe has ever had in his career, Taylor should have fought JC but was dodging like anything to give Calzaghe some credit. If anything this is bigger than Kesseler Calzaghe.

Yeah, if anything, it's bigger than Duran v. Leonard I.

He is a big Froch fan. Full-blown delusion should be assumed, not just expected.

Its a huge fight, ok Kessler was big then, was a unification fight, but Taylor is a much bigger name, and a better fighter. Hes not really past it, only losing to a very good Pavlik. OK other than the Kessler, who has Calzaghe fought who would be bigger than Taylor, who wasn't way past their prime?

And I am quite neutral in this fight, what gives you that idea?

Is Froch vs Taylor bigger than any Calzaghe 168lb fight to date?

    YES.
