Ok, I've seen a lot of negative talk about the recent heavyweight title fight. It really wasn't that bad. Maybe I'm more of a purist, but at least it appears like Gomez tried more then Sam Peter. Vitali, at least looks much more interesting then his brother Wlad aka "Mr. Safety", in the ring. Over the course of 9 rounds we saw Vitali bloody Gomez, and it didn't go the distance. The 1980's had bigger stinkers then that, and some of them lasted 15 rounds! If there's anybody fans should be complaining about it should be Captain Caveman. Nikolay Valuev is the real criminal here. His last three fights are pure boredom. If I had a kid, I'd punish him with Valuev fights. At least Vitali tries. I'd rather Haye fight him then Wlad, it would be much more exciting.
It was a good fight, Vitali was impressive. The article on eastside is the worst article I think I've ever read. Utter biased ignorant crap.
It was a good fight, these guys are just pissed that their guy didn't win. Same ol' story I'm afraid......................
the HW division is ****,so its not a surprise that fights are **** too. lets see if Haye can bring some excitement to the division.
I know the fight wasn't that horrible, it was absolutely diabolical joke to be called a boxing fight.
I'll admit these few things, just to clear some air. - I don't like the Klitschkos, I just think Vitali is better then Wlad. Or at the very least, he's much more active then his younger brother. - I wanted Gomez to win, but as soon as I saw his awkward "kitty paw"* technique, I lost a lot of hope. - The heavyweight division is boring, but last night's fight wasn't the worst. - As unfortunate as it is, we always need someone like Klitschko (either one) around. Good things come from bad situations. You need one to polarize the other. A "yin-yang" kind of deal.
I was happy that they attempted to show what might have been a marquee fight. Doesn't that say something to you if they put a title fight on ESPN? When's the last time they attempted to put a decent light on the heavyweight division? However, I know where you're coming from. I get what your problem is.
This was a great fight for boxing and especially the hwt division. Everyone at the bar I was at was going nuts and stopped watching the college basketball games to watch teh fight because of the excitement.
seriously? thanks for adding to the post... this blanket comment could have been inserted into any of 100 threads on this site...I think it was just about a full year ago I saw this exact same post and we're still waiting for that mouthy ***** to do something... maybe next time try to add a little boxing knowledge instead of regurgitating the same old crap that's been said for over 12 months... For the record the fight last night wasn't terrible... the coverage was terrible, teddy atlas was terrible, the referee was terrible but the fight itself was entertaining... It wasn't a blockbuster but it was a mandatory defense in which VK got the job done effectively...
The same people who say the fight was terrible or boring are the same people on here that try and tell us Shannon Briggs or Sam Peter fights are exciting. Double standards. There is not a fighter more boring than Briggs maybe Ruiz but at least he throws punches and Peter has no skill and is a clubbing plodder.
the fight was god awful. i think you guys havent seen a good heavyweight fight in so many years you forgot what one looked like.
