IMO Calzaghes prime was right at the end of his career, RJJ, Lacey, Kessler etc, not as early as the reid fight

As Calzaghe said, the Calzaghe of now have kicked the old Calzaghes ass

Old Calzaghe had much more power but the older Calzaghe was a lot more ring smart and used his speed and work rate

They would have beaten him, but the Calzaghe from the Lacy fight would have beaten anyone IMO, same sort of thing like I believe the Nigel Benn from the Gerald Mcclellan fight would have beaten anyone etc

Likewise I doubt RJJ would have looked his invincible best against JC.

Interesting comment posted on the homepage regarding Jones v Sheika fight by Delk1, i will cut and paste it -

I saw the fight fellas, and guest what? Roy looked real good. BUT let me say a few words here. IF you guys ever get to watch this fight you will see that Roy looked pretty close to his old self. So now you ask, What has been his problem over the past few years?? Well, here is my two cents. ROY is now 53-5. 1 lost to Montell (LEFT handed fighter), 2 losts to Taver (Good left handed fighter, 1 lost to JOE C. (excellent left handed fighter, and 1 let me repeat 1 lost to a right hand fighter, and that be GLENN Johnson. Left handed fighters take away Jones PRIMARY weapon, His leaping left hook, and his left hook. Roy beat Omar like he beat up Clinton Wood, almost a replay. Thats why the fight was stopped. The moral of the story is Roy is just not that good when he is fighting a South paw. Last night prove my points. 1 right handed fighter has beaten Roy. Omar didn't looked that bad either. But you know what ROY really had going for him last night?? HIS confidents and his fans that loves him no matter what. and that why we saw a damn good Roy Jones Jr. So in my opinion I think that JOE and Tarver would have given Roy problems in even in his prime, not because they are better fighters, but because of there styles (South Paw).

This poster does not think that a prime Roy Jones is certain to beat Calzaghe because of his South Paw style ?.

A Prime Jones and Hopkins beats Calzaghe easily, if you compare Hopkins past prime fights and Jones past prime fights to Calzaghe's prime fights than that alone will tell you who would win!!!

    Calzaghe would beat them both.
If you also think of a prime calzaghe fighting them both then calzaghe stops them both.
I'm talking about the version where he had the KO power and had few injurys to his hands.
He was the ultimate package then.

    Bull****,
Calzaghes prime was when he was around 30 when he had the KO power and the hand speed.
Watch his old fights you fool then get back to me.

Go watch some RJJ fights you dumb fool, he would've landed 50 lefthooks by the time Calzaghe threw a jab.

That fight of Calzaghe vs Jones tells us NOTHING on how the fight would have gone, a prime Jones beats Calzaghe something like 8 rounds to 4 or maybe even worst.
