Not to damper the spirits but i thought Lee looked horrible last night.Sipos' rough tactics unsettled him early and he never really found his rythm. His right hook looks good as always but why do we only see it 5 or 6 times a fight.Stewart has him pawing out the jab Klitscho style but Lee doesn't have the power to hurt opponents with the left.
Lee must have a longer reach than Duddy but Duddy has a way better jab.
I think Stewart needs to stop trying to mold Lee into a middleweight Wlad and let him throw more punches and more combos so that he can use the right hook better.
I'm no expert but Lee is far from a 160lb belt if you ask me

+1 - best fight I was ever at. Best atomosphere of ANY sporting event I have been to and I've been to a lot in a few different countries!

mccloskey and rogie would improve leaps and bounds with mcgurn i think

yea agree with you iceman lee is far from the finished article, he seems just as good as couple years ago and i couldnt believe how many shots he was taking. A better puncher than sipos would have taken him out. lets just hope its ring rustiness and nothing more.

I also thought lee looks like he has outgrown middleweight. he can make the weight fine im sure but he could use the extra 8lbs in his shoulders and legs

I tell you what, I'm joining the Mike McGurn fan club. I'll take along a big plate of humble pie to the first meeting of the fan club and eat it down heartily. He's given Bernard the power to mix it at the best. I know some reckon that Bernards punch power had been underestimated up until last night and just shone through when it counted. I can't go along with that. There was a hell of a lot more on those shots than I have seen before.

I do think a move up to Featherweight is on the cards in the not too distant future. I would say Bernard will be able to walk the fine line between peak fitness and strength and just over/under doing it indefinitely at SBW. When the time comes the extra 4lbs should be the perfect cushion to move up and keep all his attributes.

Looking back that left that put Cordoba down in the 3rd was an absolute peach. Superb. Just timed it lovely. Thats when Cordoba knew he couldn't just walk through him and that really is going to prove a big thing when lads come in to challenge Bernard now. They won't think 'feather fisted, glass jaw, walk him down' they'll have to think twice. Brilliant. No Irish boxer deserves it more IMO after he brought Pro Boxing (with Peters) back to life in this country.

Lee could get down to 154 I think. He's a bit of a conundrum. I don't know what the story is with him really. He is performing as a lot less than the sum total of his parts. He really should be doing a lot better than he is. Not too sure what the problem is. He can definitely drop the weight and still be strong. I know he's tall but I'm sure he could get down if he worked really hard. He's not looking like a good bet at 160 anyway. I reckon he should be looking for McGurns phone number :good

I wouldn't dream of bothering anyone with that kind of talk yet! He needs a long break. A nice holiday and some rest. He's very clearly shattered.

If it was me I'd put Munroe on the long finger because of Maloneys big mouth. I'd take Lontchi. The Point will sell out whoever he fights next time. He deserves a gimme and Lontchi is #4 with the WBA.

After that, seeing how he responds to another intensive camp (and lets get it straight he needs to do that kind of camp every time now that we have seen the results and now hes a world champion) I might move him up to fight Cruz or Leuvano and aim for being a 2 weight world champion :thumbsup

Otherwise he might go for Munroe in a second defence. I think that Munroe should be made beat someone in the world top 20 before he is given a chance.

    What do other people think?

i cant see Peters doing Maloney any favours after all the **** he has said, they will make Munroe wait as they should.
Dunne deserves a relatively easy defense, if there is such a thing, then i would like tosee him beat Munroe and move up and challenge for a belt at 126

Magee asked me if he could have a 'gander' like me. I dont know if that was fighting talk:ko Maybe it was my t-shirt or something
We started talking and laughing and i got one back by saying he should have finished off Hatton that night...
Was all good fun in truth....

Matt Macklin is a lovely bloke, Peters is the nicest big man i have and probably ever will meet...what a peoples man.

Il make a proper post about it soon

    What a night

I was at the bar too and i turn around and Manny Steward was there, so i do what ya do and offer the man a drink. He decline as he had a full pint infront of him:lol:

Tyson Fury is a small man too eh!!!!!!!

personally i cant see Lee moving down to 154, his legs are skinny enough as it is.Moving up makes more sense but 168 is a stacked division which will probably get even better when Pavlik and AA move up.I would prefer for him to stay at middle and get more experience and hopefully get a title shot when Pavlik is gone

As it stands Munroe is a **** poor European champion who has not upped his level of competition or performance since beating Kiko Martinez.
He ducked Dunne, he ducked Cordoba.
He's not worthy of a world title shot, at least not at Dunne's title anyway.
He has had it way too easy in his career, so yeah he should up his game if he wants to compete with Dunne.

**** Maloney and the binman - I've lost some of my respect for the two of them over the last few weeks

I think Olivier Lontchi could be a good fight and he is rated high by the WBA. Could be considered the mandatory even though he's #3 and not #1
