Would a prime Roy Jones Jnr and a prime Bernard Hopkins have beaten Joe Calzaghe ?

Based on styles Calzaghe would have always troubled BHOP, it's a 50/50 fight imo.

Calzaghe would almost always beat Hopkins- he's too fast, and fighters that had a speed advantage on Hopkins and were his own size were always Hopkins' kryptonite.

Roy would've had trouble with Calzaghe, but I'd still favor him to win 60% or so of the time.

not really, look at the hop fight. joe didnt adjust, hopkins just wore down. tatically joe was beaten, but hops was just to old to fight someone of joes youthful style.

Prime for prime, i favor bhop by wide points or late ko. roy vs joe would be closer, something like 7-5 in favor of roy or maybe 8-4, where roy would get the best of joe with superior speed and power in the middle of the ring and joe takes advantage of roy on his down time on the ropes.

Joe loses to both. If Calzaghe could barely beat an old Bernard, how the hell could he get past a prime one? Prime Hopkins was busier, didn't tire and punched harder. And how the hell did Calzaghe have a "better boxing brain" than Jones? Or more "will to win?" Jones was superior to calzaghe in every aspect including punching power. And FYI,Calzaghe was 8 years younger than Hopkins and he was NOT as past his best as Jones was. Your spin on things is comical.

cosign, only IMO he is the best rhythm breaker ever. also, tryin to swarm bhop is the absolute worst strategy you could have, its boxing suicide. joe would be countered out of contention.

I like your post buddy :good

I've not even bothered to look at any of the replies because i know how many Calzaghe haters there are in here, as well as how many Jones and Hopkins nutthuggers.

But you're right - Calzaghe would have had a fair shot at beating both in their prime.
