Spada, Zbik and Oral don't seem strong enough hold off Pavlik, Gennady Golovkin might be Kelly biggest threat ones he gets more bouts under his belt:deal

Karmazin is better than Duddy imo.

But overall, its pretty slim pickins... I never even heard of most of these other guys!

in my opinion, dmitry pirog is the guy with the toolbox best suited to giving pavlik problems. i give kelly this, though i am no fan of his, he has a shot with any puncher who opens himself up a lot when he throws--duddy is the prime illustration of this...factor in the size difference and duddy's tendency to cut up and i think it would be a long (or short) night for the well mannered irish fella. anyway, pavlik v. hopkins demonstrated the degree to which a strong bodied, reasonably tall technician with a solid, cover up defense, good punch timing, an even, cool head and an accurate jab can confound and shut down pavlik's strong-but-inarticulate offense. pirog is not a carbon copy of hopkins, in any sense, but he has a turtle shell defense that he can snap on at the first whiff of a wild swinging attack, he fights well off the ropes and jabs well, and accurately, out of his cover up defense. he has good power in both hands (favors the strong straight right) and, unlike the hopkins of the last years, is willing to bob, roll and weave his way in aggressively when his technical boxing leaves a stunned, punched-out or off-balance/out of position opponent in front of him. pirog isn't as quick as hopkins, but, then again, hopkins didn't need half his speed to crash pavlik's party by a near shutout.

Grevor is a pretty solid fighter and had a good win over Amin Askanien lately. He alsomade a good account of himself vs AA

agreed. i fear, though, that he might drop the fight to pavlik for basically the same reasons he lost to abraham. gevor can't resist a gunfight if it's high noon, you know?

domenico spada is such an awful fighter...i can barely even describe the degree to which he couldn't hang with the best in the division. his record is padded with so many roma tomato cans it's ridiculous and insulting to the great fighters in the division for him to be ranked so highly. spada has a limp jab, terrible footwork, worse balance...his punches come so telegraphed its like a guy fighting two seconds behind the clock in the actual fight...and that tells you how bad these goofballs he's beating are. for him to be ranked above zbik, who is a terrific fighter is evil...zbik a good, very technical operator who knows how to keep the pressure on his man and use the angles to make up for his low-medium power.

Thats a bad bunch right there..What happened to Lopez? He would beat most of those guys. Wouldnt knock off Kelly but an interesting fight as he would be about as big as Kelly and a southpaw to boot.

Golovkin is very, very good, haven't seen Geale or Pirog in action yet.

All the other guys definitely lose to Pavlik sooner or later... Gevor and Carrera for example could make it an extremely exciting affair as we've seen in their previous high-profile fights against Abraham, Asikainen, and Castillejo.

The so called "number one contender" Spada would probably get knocked out by the first punch that lands, he's that bad and has his Italian mafioso promoter Cherchi to thank for his ranking, lots of hometown cooking involved in his recent points wins.

I realize that Vincent is talking about WBC contenders, but only Abraham and the winner of Williams/Wright mean anything on the larger scale. Nobody in the WBC top 15 would finish on their feet against Pavlik.

But, as long as we're talking WBC, Karmazin has the NABF title now. That means he will end up in a title eliminator. Who should be his dance partner for that one?
