You're absolutely right. Why, only China_hand_Joe... and W1LLPOW3R... and smiff... and BadJuju83... and trampie... and Cobbler... and Iron Fist Joe... and Gaz S... and ThePlugInBabies... and toffeejack brought up those differences. The silence has been deafening, yeah?
THANK YOU! Cobbler, Trampie, & the rest of the usual suspects: Apologies not necessary, so you needn't bother. Just try and get your facts straight next time before starting with your criticisms. :good
Feel free to substitute the word 'injured' for 'broken' in my previous post and, errr, well no other action needed really...
you should probably have noted that i never used the word broken pacfan, apology not necessary, you needn't bother. calzaghe's left hand was evidently not 100% in that bout and had swollen alarmingly, as the bbc article says.
It's well known Calzaghe would punch brick walls and divorce his wife so as to avoid Glen Johnson... Also DINAMITA - I never mentioned broken hand, just injured... Either way - at least Joe was able to pull out the win, whereas Manny Pacquiao can't win if he has the wrong socks on..... Bless his cotton socks eh? And considering you want our facts straight before starting with criticisms - you hadn't mentioned a) you don't consider Calzaghe to be prime in this fight (or you don't normally), b) that there was any form of hand injury - and possible food poisoning... Perhaps it's slightly better to have a good idea of the facts - with 1 wrong detail, rather than a grossly edited version to suit the agenda.
Tough fight but Calzaghe deffo won. And people can say Calzaghe would never beat a prime Jones or Hopkins but uhhh......he beat them and Jones went onto woop sheika as Hopkins did Pavlik so Obviously they aint shot
serious question, what evidence was there that calzaghe broke his hand "early" in this fight (reid)? excuse my ignorance
well who knows how much the swelling really hampered him and when it started. in that article, joe doesn't metion either just saying 'he wasn't his best' that night. sounds like stuff every boxer says after a fight is closer than it should've been or they don't do that well.
Round 4/5. You can clearly see Joe stop throwing his left hand for large parts of that round, and fairly sparingly thereafter. He also did mention it in the post fight conference, and immediate interviews following the event. He also had surgery I believe and was out for 6 months as a result...
fair enough, never saw the whole fight. why would he have surgery if he didn't have any broken bones though?
My bad - can't find anything on surgery - but there was treatment, and he was out for 6 months as a result. Depending on what site, what period - you get different stories... The BBC Sport report in the immediate aftermath reports horrible swelling, badly damaged knuckles, and he was out for 6 months.
