    Article from The Ring

"Bob Arum, Valero’s promoter, said he discussed a potential July matchup of the budding young stars with Frank Warren, Khan’s promoter, when he was visiting friends in England last week.

Valero, a complete fighter who has stopped every one of his opponents, must first get past a tough assignment in slugger Antonio Pitalua on April 4 in Austin, Texas.

Valero, moving up in weight, and Pitalua are fighting for the vacant WBC lightweight title.

“That’s a tough fight,” Arum said of Pitalua. “If he comes through, we’re going to maybe put him in with Amir Khan. I spent time with (Warren) at an Arsenal soccer game. He likes the idea. Freddie (Roach, Khan’s trainer) doesn’t think much of Valero.”

Valero can beat Pilatula because he is already 39 yrs old . . . but it's not gonna be easy. Pilatula has a high KO rate too and has experience . . . a KO can happen both ways . . . so let's see.

    Ouch.

Fragments of Khan's chin will make atoms look like boulders if this fight happens.

    Valero KO1.

im very impress with pitaula...and the victory over valero would put him in the top 5 LW...khan can never be top 5 unless beats any of JMM, diaz, guzman, casamayor or presscott

if valero wins over pitaula, i pick him over khan...pitaula is the test that would help us the true talent of valero

I have serious doubt Warren would let Khan fight Valero. That's career suicide for Khan.

That's the only possible outcome for this fight.

If Valero steamrolls Pitalua no way Khan ever fights him.

That would be an achievement because if he thought Prescott hit hard he'll think he got hit by a sledge-hammer if Valero hits him flush with either hand.

PITALUA is a senior citizen in the boxing sports if he is 39 yrs old..

Oh! By the way, IF Valero wins! expect Jeff M to hype Pitalua so Valero will look great!:dead

20,000 were at Khans last fight. I haven't a clue what he'd manage to pull if he gets a title shot.

Maybe Frank Warren thinks its time to cash him in before he gets clobbered again.

Valero needs to prove he can box first.

Khan would clip his chin with the pen he was just about to sign the contract with and would out for the count.

Madness fight for Khan..as unproven and at a time overrated Valero is he still can seriously punch and that seems to be all you need to knock off Amir.

But if he takes the fight I will commend him...I would cheer for him because in my eyes he would be the huge underdog and for all over the top hype I actually still like Khan for some reason.

You should have at least learned by now that age does not always have to do with where a fighter is at. If that was the case, B-hop would be in a senior citizens home! Why would I need to hype Pitalua. He's a good fighter. 90% KO ratio and has not lost since 2000.
