The middleweight fight hardcore fans have been craving could happen in October or November. Bob Arum, Kelly Pavliks promoter, said THE RING 160-pound champion and No. 2 Arthur Abraham have agreed in principal to fight probably in New York if they win interim fights this summer. Pavlik faces Sergio Mora in June; Abraham is expected to fight sometime after that. B i b l e of B o x i n g Website
Has Pavlik finally grown a set of balls? With that said, I'll believe it when it's officially signed.
Abraham has a mandatory against Lorenzo so Oct-Nov assuming both win their fights sounds like a more than reasonable date... If it's not in MSG, then Atlantic City would probably be the best location... They're better off taking it to Germany... Aside from Pavlik, most of the fighters that make up that top tier in the middleweight division are German or German based fighters...
Good news . . . at least they are talking about it now . . . but I'll wait for papers to be signed before rejoicing.
I hope this fight is signed....the winner will be able to say there the true MW champ..I dont give a damn if Sturm gotta belt cuz eventually he'll have to get into the ring with 1 of em...
No surprise here. Pavlik/Abraham would have happened in January if Pav hadn't lost to Hopkins. Pavlik lost his momentum, and Arthur's win over miranda became a distant memory. Arthur will fight Forrest in the USA this summer while Pavlik fights Mora. Both guys taking on opponents who spilt a pair of fights. My only concern is that Forrest, although a smaller guy, represents a pretty big step up for Arthur. There is a good chance Forrest will win.
Ya right -- the #43 middleweight LuJaun Simon took 4 rounds off Abraham, and you think he's gonna beat the best middleweight in the world. That's ****ing delusional.
abraham could lose 11 rounds v pavlik , but still has the equalising factor namely power even late that can turn it around. if it goes to points you have to think pavlik will outwork abraham clearly, but abraham has the chance to ko pavlik, whether he can do it in his current form and state of conditioning and weight making struggles is debatable in my mind.
