I think Gomez would defeat Valuev. Chagaev vs Gomez is a 50/50 type of fight as Gomez has the type of stuff that give Chagaev fits.
one thing that confuses me about gomez is his technique: he is supposed to be the gifted cuban technician, yet he throws most of his punches kitten style. he CAN shoot a straight left too, but why doesn't he do it all the time? is he too sloppy, too lazy?
Gomez can fight. He was just in there vs Vitali Klitschko and could not afford to take as many chances. Gomez whipped Virchis far easier than Chagaev did. I think Gomez might be a top 5 guy right now.
Povetkin's style is totally wrong for Gomez IMO. Haye and Arrealo have a puncher's chance, but I for my part would favour Gomez. Chagaev vs Gomez could really go either way,but I tend to favour Chagaev over Gomez.
Yep! Gomez did, mendoza. But lets not forget that Chagaev didnt want to fight Virchis, and vice versa. There are friends, and went on strike during their encounter. No action during 11 lame and boring rounds-only in the last and final round they gave it a try.
Personally I think it was the cut that caused Gomez to lose his confidence. Before the cut Gomez was looking good and I actually thought he could pull off the upset, but after he got cut I notced that he chinched more and barely threw punches.
Out of curosity who do you think Gomez has a better chance of beating: Chagaev, Valuev or Ruiz. I'd say Valuev, if a 70 year old Holyfield can do it, than Gomez should have no problem.
