So, if Pavlik and Abraham get past thier next opponents, a end of year showdown between the two should happen. Who wins and how?

just posted this on another thread...i like aa, but not here.

i think if pav keeps his distance and uses his advantages...he can bomb away at aa's forearms and eventually make him drop that shell defense of his and create many opportunities for a later rounds ko/tko. no matter how strong you are, and aa is strong, you cannot keep your arms up like that for too long if they are constantly getting pounded on. if pav sticks to his gamplan and doesnt get too close, he shouldnt really be in reach for aa catch him with those real strong counters of his either.

 

aa on points. If a 175 pound b hop couldnt ko pavlik after a 12 round beat down then know way aa is going to, that said, i dont see aa buckling under pavliks constant pressure coming forward. Then he uses his boxing skills to win a very close decision maybe even a sd

 

How is AA going to beat Pavlik on points?
He has nowhere near the constant punch out-put.

If AA does win it will be by KO/TKO.

hopkins doesn't have the constant punch out-put AA has... and still was able to beat kelly

 

AA isn't active enough to beat Pavlik...

 

AA can withstand a beating (see Miranda I). It'd be a wide UD for Pavlik...

 

Pavlik gets hit, and often. If Abraham connects with one of those looping shots of his, it's all over.

 

He had some help there. A full two minute rest and was allowed to run. All he had to do was look at the ref and ask to get another rest and point deduction from Miranda for 'low blows'. Miranda couldn't risk going to the body for risk of disqualification for one more 'low blow'. That meant all AA had to defend was his broken jaw.

 

He'd have a much better chance if he was taller. But he isn't so looping those wide shots will be dangerous for him.

 

Exactly. Against a complete boxer, guys like Pav get exposed as not being able to box a boxer. Hopkins gave the blue print, and AA will finish the job.

 

This is the most talked about fight that will never happen.

 

Sure it's going to be dangerous, but he only has to connect once. Pavlik's going to have difficulty getting through Abraham's shell defense without also exposing himself to a counter. Pavlik's best shot would be to use his reach, his height, work the body to death from early on, and move to the side. He just can't stand in front of Abraham trying to split his guard. He'll be a sitting duck if he does that. It may take five or six rounds, but eventually Abraham is going to find an opportunity to counter.
