They addressed this issue not too long ago. I believe it was brought up mainly because of Super Joe holding one from two divisions.

What seemed to be the "verdict", is that if inactive in the specified division for more than 1 year, the Ring contacts that fighter regarding his intentions. The article went on to say that through out the history of their belt, no one has ever said NO when basically "asked" **** or get off the pot.

That being said, they also admited that their is no rules in place to stip a fighter, EVER basically. They just rely on the fighter to do the right thing....which, like I said, so far has never been an issue.

I think the only 1 at the moment is vazquez who has been recovering from the eye injury. I agree with the rules that the Ring has laid down.

However, if an ESB belt was created with the rings existing rules along with the proposed rule I would agree. Maybe it would become the most coveted belt

That would be so cool. Have some committee of regular board members on ESB to make a P4P list and divisional rankings just like The Ring. But that would require a lot of dedication and time from quite a few people and i don't think it's realistic.

Casa had Guzman crap on him
Izzy's rehabbing from surgery on his eye
Calderon fought twice last year and has one in a couple of months...

I've never agreed with stripping a champion of their titles due to inactivity. A championship belt should be lost in the ring.

Which is the exact view of the Ring Magazine and their belt policies. However to be fair to fighters....that are fighting, if the belt holder is holding it hostage, it's only fair to give it up...if you don't intend to defend it.:yep

He's not holding it "hostage". I think he's entitled to some rest after his triology. To force him to fight within a year or be stripped of the belt is ridiculous if you ask me.
