I would have to side with Molitor in this one; he's a bit too sharp a puncher for Dunne IMO, and his defence is a lot better (the Caballero ambush notwithstanding). A close and competitive UD for the Canadian.

Good statement, many times great performances are only performed a few times.

Just a question cos i never knew about Dunne much before until he 1rd ko loss.

    Was he a good amateur?
Also has he been shook up much in his fights?

yeah he was a standout amateur in ireland . unlucky not to qualify in the olympics in sydney . dunne is a quality boxer i can tell you that was no 1 off performance . look at his record he has never been beaten on points . 1 bad ko that is all . his chin has improved i think even though he hadnt got worst of chins i think people just jumped on this because of the kiko ko . when freddie roache trained him he said dunne always needs 1 or 2 rounds to warm up even in sparring that is when he is at his weakest . after 1 or 2 rounds his chin usually holds up .

He won something like 13 Irish amateur titles, and was never beaten by any Irish boxer as an amateur. His amateur record is 119-11.
He was first reserve for the Sydney Olympics.
His performance was on another level against Cordoba but he has always been an excellent boxer.

Dunne - the amateur victory notwithstanding, Molitoe was really broken down by Cabellero, whereas Dunne's loss was the result of being caught cold. Dunne looked like a different animal last w/end and it remains to be seen how much the Cabellero defeat took out of Molitor. Dunne's confidence must be sky high whilst Molitor's must have taken a pounding.
