Why don't people still discuss Floyd vs Cotto?

Judah didn't need a big win to fight floyd did he? Holyfield didnt need a big win to fight Tyson.

 

I'm not even sure Cotto is a tougher matchup for Floyd than Pac. Pac is faster than Cotto, he's more durable, has a better defense, and is left handed. Cotto would have lots of trouble landing that left hook on Floyd, he would be at a noticeable disadvantage in terms of hand and footspeed, and he's a sucker for right hands(Floyd's best punch)

Pac comes into his fights weighing about 148 lbs., Floyd comes into his fights weighing about 150 lbs., Cotto comes in weighing about 160 lbs. Floyd and Pac are actually closer in size than Floyd and Cotto. Before Cotto even thinks about getting a fight with Floyd, he needs to get a good win or two under his belt. Right now, his second best win was against a guy coming off a 1 year layoff that Floyd had previously trashed. Cotto can't live off the Mosley fight forever. Since that fight, he's only beaten Gomez and Jennings.

It's a great opportunity for both fighters. It's the biggest fight that be made; pitting two of this generations best fighters against eachother. Both of these guys are future first ballot HOFers. Cotto is not on that level as of now.

 

First off, the only reason the Judah/Mayweather fight happened was because Floyd had no other viable options. Judah was the undisputed champ when the fight was made. Unfortunately, Judah lost to Baldo and it put everyone in a bad spot. There really was no other good options available. Second, Holyfield was a former undipsuted CW and HW champ, and had beaten Foreman and Bowe(as well as waxed the guy who KO'd Tyson) by the time he fought Tyson.

 

:good he deserved at shot at PBF 2 years ago but has lost it when he lost to margarito...mosley and pacquiao must be the first two option..if cotto KO's mosley, PBF should fight him

 

I agree with this, plus I think the fight lost steam because Cotto isn't undefeated anymore and that was one of the factors that made the fight even more appealing. After the margo loss, in a sense he got sent to the back of the line, but I think Cotto beating another top fighter would start the talk of a Cotto-Floyd fight again.

 

I just cant see why Floyd would come back to fight him...like you said he has better options.

 

2 Reasons - 1. Cotto lost to Margarito loaded gloves or not. 2. Floyd is retired.

 

cause he got knocked the **** out thats why! has has to earn his way back up with a quality win. There guys in front of him right now who have been working there way up in the last year( pac and marquez,even hatton) that are before him right now.

floyd retired in the first place so as to duck the undefeated Cotto. he fake retired because he feared having to fight the Cotto-Margarito survivor. Cotto vs. floyd is still a fantastic match of contrasting styles but we know it's a little too risky for floyd and he will fake retire again if/when that match begins to be called for by the media and fans.

 

Now this guy knows what he's talking about.

 

Floyd would beat Cotto easier than Margarito did,only legally.
