A good question, I just dont think that beating two smaller men should or would elevate Hatton to number 1. I suppose it depends what the other candidates do at the same time. For example if Hopkins fights and beats Adamek then he has a decent claim.

If Floyd officially has unretired by then, then Hatton would have to beat him and if he managed that then I would be happy to call him the best out there, I just dont see it myself.

I'd love to see that happen. I think he can do it against Pacquiao and Marquez but we'll have to see. If he does then a rematch with PBF will be HUGE, PBF will win again but it'll be a big event.

  5. There is not much diffrence between .... Manny and Hatton.... he is now a legit 140 fighter, Roach said he would be unable to make 135 anymore

Ricky Hatton, may just be too physically strong for Pacman.

Sorry but hanging around at the same weight fighting smaller guys and average fighters, and staying well clear of the very next division up because you can't handle it, is not the hallmark of a p4p king. No matter how good the little guys are. Now if he were to beat those 3 then move up and beat Margarito..............:dead

What about fighting welterweights rather than lightweights?!

Who did you have as P4P number one when the rest of the world had Bernard Hopkins?

If Hatton was to beat Pacquiao and Marquez, then beat a TOP welter..... the #1 ranking may be his.

Look at the top welters and see how many he could actually beat:

Mosley - erm....................................................no. Brutal beatdown going by Margo form.
Cotto - 50/50 affair for me, certainly winnable.
Berto - yes, but is he really that good?
Margarito - erm............ no. Too big, too strong etc.
Cintron - not really thought about this one, Kermit prob too big.
Williams - won't be on his radar.
Judah - yes, but Zab is done.
Clottey - not thought about this one either, but probably not.

Hatton actually doesn't get much respect from me whatever he does here - if he beats Manny and Juan, well, so what? Both started a LOT smaller. It doesn't prove anything and pretty much repeats the pattern of Ricky's biggest wins (smaller Castillo, old Tyszu).

He's still the best LWW in the world, but he's not faced Holt or Bradley - so what does that prove?
