In a fight that is recognised widely as being very close and tough to call. Like the Margarito-Cotto fight.

I was convinced Hopkins would beat Tarver and Pavlik beforehand and I get the same feeling about this.

It will be become clear in April. "Intangibles" such as stamina, ability to take a punch, and smarts will decide the fight. Froch is superior in all the intangibles and that's why despite Taylor being the more technically proficient of the two, I don't see this as being that significant.

Froch will just walk through all that left-right stuff from Taylor after a while and render it ineffective. Then it will be a bar room brawl and lactic acid will start building up in Taylor's muscles again :yep
Football is clearly the #1 sport over here and totally dominates. Rugby league and union both have around 20-30 pro teams I think, with decent crowds. Cricket is popular to an extent, but mainly the one day game, people only go to test matches to get pissed all day. Tennis is similar to how it is in the States. You do get the odd few who follow some of the U.S. sports which have made it over here like ice hockey and basketball. A few follow F1 as well. Boxing is a funny sport in that it is probably less popular than most of these unless one of a set few are fighting (recently this has included Eubank, Benn, Hamed, Lewis, Hatton, Calzaghe, Khan to an extent) and then everybody watches it! Decent world class operators like Woods, Thompson, Witter, Eastman, Rob Reid etc... nobody really cared about.
Just asking, not trying to start 'the obvious war'. I think our most athletically gifted big men tend to gravitate towards basketball first, followed by "American" football. Small fast guys can make it in those two sports though I think baseball is more of a draw for them. Soccer is becoming bigger over here. A few years ago, our high school didn't even offer it. Now they have boys and girls teams, competing with "American" football season wise. I think boxing will always be 'niche'. How do you see the break down where you are?

Winning a belt doesn't make you a superstar.

Can you name all the title holders in every division? I doubt it. And you hang out on a boxing forum all day. Why should the average American fan know a guy who's had virtually zero US exposure?
All this tells us is that most fans in the states don't realise the sport exists outside of their own country. Tell us something we don't know! As opposed to those over here who appreciate good boxers no matter where they're from! As for Taylor with his "he needed to come over here to make a name for himself", it's a good job Froch has the warrior mentality and doesn't demand every fight at home on his terms otherwise this fight would have never happened! It's precisely this attitude that stops me respecting Taylor as a genuine fighter, however gifted he may be.
So you're blaming Taylor for saying essentially the same thing Froch has said... that boxers need to fight in the US to get maximum exposure?

    Makes perfect sense.
The main winter sports are football and the two rugby codes (union and league), the main summer ones cricket and tennis. Boxing is a niche market, though when a Hatton/Calzaghe/Khan fight is on it is usually promoted into the mainstream. But we're happy with those sports. We don't feel the need to invent about a dozen sports that nobody else plays just so one of our teams can be "world" champions at them!
Yeah, I'm sure that's what the inventors of basketball and American football had in mind... :-(

Your anti-American bias couldn't be clearer.

Since when does being "robust" win fights??? Pascal was more "robust" than Froch, as far as that goes.

And you may not have a million, but surely you've bet all your savings on Froch seeing as how you're so certain? Or is that just all talk?

Of course he would say that, after all he lost to Froch, so whould you expect him to say that Taylor would win??? This guy somehow thinks that it back the fact that he feels that Froch will win..Worst part is him saying that Pascal is more ROBUST what he fail to say is that Pascal isnt as good as taylor..That only a small factor in his mind:yep..

    LOL @ telling Taylor STFU.

If anyone needs to STFU and prove himself in the ring, it's Froch.

taylor's spot on in saying this and its just another example of why euro fighters (and their fans) ended up whining "no-one wants to fight him".

thats because no-one outside your backyard knows who he is.....

but it is a populareity contest too.
thats part of the game and why warren fighters suffer.

it doesnt matter if anyone in the UK knows a top fighter because there is more than enough revenue to be generated from US ppv.

  15. What the guy who turned down a shot at the WBC...... and then as the No1 contender tried everything to get Allan Green or Jean Pascal in the ring instead of Froch :rofl
