No he didn't, he got KTFO by Pavlik the first time around. Admittedly he did better the second time around but if I was being unkind I could say who the fcuk is Pavlik? Pavlik made his name off knocking Taylor into next week, before that fight his only win of major substance was Edison Miranda. I appreciate him beating Hopkins, but boxing for me is about "what have you done for me lately" and those fights were, what, close to four years ago now?

Plus, Taylor only seems to want the big fights where they're totally on his terms, in the U.S with him as the house fighter and HBO golden boy. He is relying totally on his promotional backing to manouevre him opportunities that he doesn't deserve. When he refused to fight Eastman, he should have been dropped from the rankings in my view. Instead, they just said well let him have the shot and then you can have the next one. Taylor only seems to want the big fights when everything is stacked in his favour, which is why he'll never be a great fighter in my book.

Well done on replying to a point I didn't make. You're not reading the post! I didn't say he hadn't fought decent opposition. I said he was only prepared to do so on his terms, when the dice were loaded in his favour as the HBO poster boy fighting on home soil. When he'd achieved nothing of note, he turned down a final eliminator with Eastman as he would have had to leave the States. His promoters conveniently pulled him a few strings so that he could have a shot straight after which he didn't deserve. He was going to turn down a shot at Froch's title which would have been the opportunity to really establish himself as a serious player at 168 if he hadn't got his own way.

I appeciate the wins over Hopkins and the draw with Winky. But boxing is a game of what have you done for me lately. And going on a guided tour of the light middleweight division plus beating up on the shell of Lacy, in between getting KTFO and then beaten again by the limited Pavlik, is not the best set of fights ever. Both guys have something to prove in this matchup IMO. Understand now?

Come off it! Taylor is totally unproven at 168 (will change to an extent if he beats Froch). However, Kessler and Bute are #1 an #2 in the division at the mo. Taylor won't be recognised as the top dog at 168 until he beats Kessler. Andrade and ,Mundine (if he is still a 168lber) should be above him at the moment as well. As for Taylor, he was the new name when he was fighting Hopkins and Wright, but recently all he's done is beat up on a couple of domestic light middleweights and the shell of Jeff Lacy in between getting knocked silly by Pavlik. He's in the mix at 168, but no more than that...
