I havent seen enough of Wilfredo Gomez at 122 but he is consensus no1 all time at the weight & Ive seen just about every one of Morales, Barrera & Naseem`s 122 fights so he must be something... from what I have seen, he really looks the **** but Im sure extented highlights of Frank Bruno could make him look better than he really was too so I wont vote, Im curious to know how Floyd Mayweather - a brilliant 130 lber - compares to Gomez in their best weights.

    ???????????

Gomez was the ****. I think Mayweather was better but he didnt stay there that long. if he would've stayed at that weight for a longtime he would've passed Gomez. Mayweather is the best 130 boxer ever. Gomez is probably the best boxer ever at 122, hell there both monsters!!!

As good as Floyd was at 130, Gomez reign at 122 was extroadinary.

    Fighters include:
    Domg Yun
    Royai Kobayashi
    Juan Lopez
    Carlos Mendoza
    Carlos Zarate
    Jose Cervantes

    Terrific 122 resume

this is a pretty close one, to be honest. subjectively, i don't really care for pretty boy floyd and really enjoyed, respected and admired wilfredo gomez. however, objectively both guys were dominant, supremely talented fighters at the weights in question.

floyd may have peaked during his time at lightweight, so, perhaps, he was a little on the green side of his best for the bulk of his time at 130. nontheless, his unbeaten streak there was really impressive. he dominated the division, no question. his speed of hand and foot was incredible--and he had power, real power, at 130.

gomez, fought and beat even more terrific fighters in his time at 122-pounds: zarate, kobayashi, lopez (twice), cruz and the forgotten but excellent dong kyun yum. gomez also lost by tko, his only loss, at 122. however, that loss was to salvador sanchez, an all time great. mayweather never fought anyone of sanchez' caliber at 130...heck, i don't even know if there was a figther at 130-pounds who even approached that level when floyd was in the division.

this is a tough one to call. good post.

Actually they avoided him and he destroyed the guy who beat them both.

Gomez got better resume at 122 but Floyd was more dominate. So how can you say who is better?

    Cheers :good

Ps. dont mean to be a **** but Gomez lost to Sanchez at 126 lbs, I dont recall Gomez ever losing at 122, thats 1 of the main reasons he is widely regarded as numero uno at the weight.
