In my view that cheating b@stard DID use the illegal wraps against the superior Cotto. He was clearly outworked and outmatched until the substance had hardened enough to do some damage from the first time he managed to connect.

There was nothing wrong with Cotto's game plan other than the fact he didn't factor in Margo using these in the later rounds...

I'm too against allegations without evidence, but you don't tear ears in half with normal boxing gloves, impossible.

I remember watching the fight thinking that Margos confidence and positive attitude were extremely odd for a guy who was losing a fight. Also, the toll that Margos shots were taking on Cotto seemed weird to me. Margo was NEVER a big puncher, just a volume puncher.

I am aware that I have zero facts regarding anything other than the Mosely fight, but it seems very obvious to me how this whole thing got started. Margo looked like crap against Clottey until Clottey hurt his hand, and he looked pretty bad even in victory that night. Next Margo fights Williams and loses. Margo can no longer claim that he would beat the elite of the WW division cuz he just lost to a relatively untested Paul Williams. He realizes that he has no chance of getting big money and big names without scoring spectacular knockouts. He also knows that Bob Arum still wants him to fight Cotto. Enter illegal handwraps. He KO's an overmatched Golden Johnson, and brutalizes Cintron ( I think he couldve beat Cintron without the wraps, but Cintron wouldn't have been spitting blood by a body shot). There is no way he would use the wraps against Mosely (whom he was favored to beat and appeared shot) and not use them in the Cotto fight (the biggest fight of his life for the welterweight championship).

It's common sense. If you don't think so and you are clinging on to "I guess we will never know for sure", realize this: For two months now "we" didn't know for sure about the Mosely fight. But I knew it right away. And when the truth comes out eventually, you will have spent all that time a naive sucker, and I'll be riding the "I told you so train" all the way to Disneyland.

Brother, your logic is sound, but in NEVADA its IMPOSSIBLE. Its one of two states that supervises wrapping, man.

Thats what we're saying, we're not frigging Margarito apologists. It is literally impossible to tamper with wraps in Nevada. I've been an assist for professional boxers fighting on pro cards in Las Vegas.

Here's what happens: The materials are brought in by the comission, and they supervise the wrapping, then the comissioner signs them. The referee, in many cases, does rounds from each dressing room to the next to observe the wrapping.

Margarito is a cheater, and I bet he's done it before. But in fights in Vegas and in NYC, its not possible. If it was proven possible, it would shake the foundations of this sport to the very core, because it would mean that the New York State Athletic Comission and the Nevada State Athletic comission were in somebodies pocket. We're talking government corruption.

Cotto fought a stupid fight, got gassed, and got hit with something like 400 punches. Bro, 400 punches does damage if they are from Ivan Calderon.

    Lets bury this ****.

    good post.

cotto hasn't got shanes power, heart or chin. unless cotto can box him like he did in the earlier rounds in a rematch, margo beats him again and possibly quicker this time.

It's definitely possible, and highly likely that Margarito did indeed cheat against Cotto, as well as others.

Before the Mosley fight, Capitello inserted a plaster smeared pad inside of the wraps. They did this not only once, but twice. One which had already been signed off by a California official. The other had also been hidden in the wraps, when Nazim Richardson objected to tape being place directly on Margarito's skin. He had no idea there had been illegal pads inserted into Tony's gauze, until they had been exposed after a commissioner ordered Margarito to have his hands rewrapped. There's a good chance if there never was an issue with the tape, Margarito would have gotten away with loading his gloves by both the commission as well as Nazim Richardson.

Whether or not new wrap materials were provided by the NSAC is irrelevant, if these dudes are sneaking in illegal, plaster smeared pads inside of them. It only takes a split second to divert someone's attention.

However, at this point, nothing can be proven. So I agree with Richard Schaefer when he says a thorough investigation should be launched. For all we know, this could have been going on for years.

If he was really tough he would have fought fair. And how do we know Marg didn't cheat in other ways? I don't see how he gets KO'd by Mosely but can take Cotto's punches. doesn't make sense how any WW can take the punches Marg did.

until it's proven he didn't use them I will always believe he did because cotto looked like he was in a car accident and was hurt pretty bad....noone will ever know but IMO and based on the fact he used them against shane I will always assume he ruined cotto cuz of plaster of paris

It would be quite ignorant to not question or even have a little doubt about his win over Cotto. You either have to be a Margo nuthugger or a Cotto hater.
