Sure, he wasn't anything great to start with, but let's be honest - back in 2005, this guy looked to have a bright future in a watered down division.

Now don't tell me Wvlad broke him down. I don't want to hear it. After that fight he went on to beat Toney twice, and then Oleg for a belt. Were they anything special? No. But Peter still had that fire.

Vitali killed him, yes. However, Peter didn't have anything in that fight. To me, it was more about Peter looking really bad than Vitali looking really good.

Did he lose a family member? Maybe he made enough money now and just lost his desire? Something happened to this guy (behind the scenes) that sapped his energy.

Slightly off topic: I just farted and it smells like a baby's diaper.

back in 05 peter was still fighting at or around 235, he had the energy to throw punches in combinations and more than once every 3-5 rounds like he did last night. If that fat lazy f**k could loose some weight and have a serious training camp and come in to a fight around 240 he would be a monster once more. But it will never happen! and its a shame too since he could have been something.

Back in 2005 Peter was not fighting anyone. He was matched with Glass Jawed fighters like Jeremy Williams and Taurus Sykes to make him look better than he really was. Peter was a creation of very careful match making by Duva. Many people think he lost the first Toney fight and Toney was grossly out of shape for both fights. Maskaev was just another Glass Jawed fighter Peter KOed.

I remember people on here comparing Peter to Mike Tyson in 2004 and 2005.:rofl:patsch Despite the fact that at that point he still had not fought anyone worth a crap.

Sam started to have trouble as soon as he went up a level in competition. Wlad, Toney (IMO Peter lost the 1st fight) trouble with McCline, Vitali.... the whole team is a mess from managers down to the towel boy in training camp. Look at the advise they were giving him in the corner of last nights fight...what a joke. Pop Anderson doesnt have a clue. Sam himself has NO commitment... they are DONE

sam has said, a number of times, that he doesn't want to be a fighter anymore. very much like mike tyson before him--though for very different reasons. sam says he is fighting because of a slave labor contract through which he is forced to. it is difficult to verify the degree of truth in this, but sam certainly seems the type to be used up by a promoter.

I call BS on this one. I watched that fight, and Maskaev was very game, landing good counter-punches, but his glass jaw never came into play. The KO was a TKO and he wasn't off his feet, in fact he didn't even look that broken. Surely, he was in trouble, but he wasn't out yet and he took was monster blows from Peter.

That fight was damned good and Peter looked good against Maskaev. I think Peter could be a pretty solid heavyweight if he trained for the sport.

Burgers, fries, pizza, etc. there is no way a guy that is serious comes in 25lbs over what he should be.

Got lazy, got fat, thought he would be able to blast everyone out.

It's a real shame but it's also an old tune.

Did you see the fight? Peter threw 67 punches per round and several combinations each round. I'm actually surprised at how active Peter was despite the weight.

Of course, i do agree that he has to go back to 235lbs, or at least 245lbs.

Bottomline though, if Klitschko said during the staredown "i must break you", then that's exactly what he did. Or they.
