I agree with the "beat Rojas first" sentiment. But if Rocky Juarez could touch up Chris John, I'm thinking Gamboa can. In a close fight, Gamboa by SD.

Linares and Antillon will also be huge tests for Yuri.

Antillon campaigns at 130-135 but usually fights at 135. He's huge compared to gamboa.

Pretty sure I read a while back that he's trying to get down to 130. Which surprised me because I agree, he's already a freaking massive lightweight.

I would love to see Linares back at 126 for a showdown with Gamboa.

You guys are wrong. You are talking about the Ramirez fight, not De Jesus. De Jesus never KD Gamboa, it was an error from the referee. Go watch the fight if you don't remember, it was a slip. The legit knock downs came from Jimenez, Ramirez (elbow, but still a KD) and Gonzalez.

Agreed, but unfortunately refs these days are stupid and would label anything a KD.

interesting fight. I don't think John has the power to put Gamboa down for good but I do see Gamboa going down in the fight while getting caught off ballance. Gamboa has the speed to give everyone trouble, even a guy with defense like John.

I see a close decision for John, based on the KD

If Rocky Juarez gave Chris John trouble in their last fight...then I go with Gamboa by KO!

But there's a rematch between Juarez and John on the process...so who knows...maybe Juarez beats him this time....

Dragon John is too technically sound to let Gamboa get away with his usual mistakes..

Honestly, I will sound biaised because Yuri is with Pacman my two favorite current fighters. But after I saw John vs Juarez, I give no chance at all to John. He looked vunerable at times and Juarez wasn't taking his opportunities. Sometimes when Juarez got aggressive John seemed kinda scared, but Juarez never pushed it. Gamboa is 10x more aggressive than Juarez, 20x faster and twice as strong. Of course he is also a lot more open and his defense is worse, but style vs style, I can't see John pulling this one. Gamboa only has trouble vs fighters who are scared of him and protect their head the whole fight. A real and great champ like John won't ***** out like that. And you don't want to exchange punches with Gamboa, do you?

Depending on how good John's chin is, he should win this. Even if John doesn't posses crazy ko power, Gamboa has been dropped many times already by journey men, so if anyone's chin is suspect, its Gamboa's. Not only that, Gamboa's defense is only his offense, other than than he doesn't do much to avoid punches. This could prove to be costly against an experienced fighter like John. Clearly, Gamboa holds the advantage in the hand speed and strength department, but so does John in the experience department.
