both hakkar and locket were so utterly and completely out of their class against hopkins and pavlik, respectively that it is somewhat hard to get amped about a clash between them. however, despite hakkar's painful embarassment on the world stage, he has given performances that make me wonder why he was so frantic, undone and unwilling against hopkins. hakkar went the distance with sebastian sylvester a few years back--and sylvester, even if a somewhat limited fighter, has cracking power and, perhaps, the best straight 1-2 in the division. before that hakkar took christian sanavia the distance and nearly bear him. in an immediate rematch he made sanavia quit on the stool in the middle rounds. hopkins is far better than either of those two, but hakkar ought to have been able to at least hang in there and make a respectable, if not competitve showing. hakkar is tricky and awkward, hard to hit in his best performances...with decent pop in his mitts. lockett is undersized, probably a natural welterweight and his best win, sadly, is probably a decision over a somewhat shot ryan rhodes a few years ago. hakkar dominates this one, i think, as lockett just seems to be unable to connect when a guy has speed, power or knows how to move, breathe and use the ring against him.
now i think that the rockett definately wins this.. Everyone knows about garys vaunted power, and i think that gary kncoks him aroud 6-7 rounds.. this would be a great friday night fights card.. Now we gotta get gary to come out of retirement:smoke:good
lol.. I think he does.. Everyone discredits him for losing to Pavlik..people fail to realize he was wbu world champ, AND that he ktfod 22 other people before losing to Pavlik. Pavlik stemrolls alot of people
Locketts World Title fights were on undercards to Brittish domestic or Commonwealth title fights - even when he was world champion he didn't get the recognition he deserved. And all of the big names avoided him. He wanted to unify with Taylor when he first won the belt but it wasn't till Pavlik beat him that he got the fight. Abraham and Strum wanted no part of him so he had to defend his title against domestic level fighters like Lee Blundell. Gary Lockett: A great champ who never got the respect he deserved (other than from Benny obviously).
