Vlad has never quit in any fight. Vlad has never been knocked out. He was stopped by a TKO. Vlad lost one fight, Brewster, by extremely high blood sugar, MRI showed zero concussion. Vlad does not have sugar, never has. I just watched a few of Vlad's fights last night, he is a very excellent boxer, very fluid, power, stamina, defense, balance, etc., he has it all.

Lewis was knocked out by Rahman. TKO'd by McCall, but he didn't have a glass chin. Louis was knocked out, etc. Sometimes it's not a bad chin, it is the punch you do not see and conditioning.

Vlad is boxing 101, the other heavyweights would love to have his talent. Vlad works very hard in the gym and is never out of shape. You don't see him with blubber and a pot belly.

I beleive its the luck of the draw more than genetics.Look at marvis Frazier or Tex Cobbs son. Both of their fathers had good chins, especially Tex Cobb who took all of Shavers punches flush until Shavers punched himself out.

    Tony Mundine... 96 bouts. 80 wins (65 KO's), LD 5, KOby 10.

Being KO'd by Monzon, Louis Rodriguez, Bennie Briscoe, Kahu Mahunga, Jessie Burnett just to name a few....

Hardly a shameful bunch of names to be KO'd by..

I guess Joe Frazier and Marvis Frazier have glass jaws too....?????

Tommy Hearns was hurt by guys who had power.

Could you imagine if Ronald Hearns took a punch from Marvin Hagler or Ray Leonard? He probably would explode.

Wayne McCullough had a great interview no one read, about 2 years ago on I forget what boxing site.

It was entirely on the subject of chins and a fighter taking a punch. He obviously has an ungodly chin, but it was interesting, as he pointed out that he has none of the physical attributes associated with having a hard chin, as he has a long neck, not thick at all through the shoulders torso area.

He essentially said that taking a punch is entirely mental, as your brain in the woozy state either pushes you forward, or you just collapse.

He also said that the hardest punch he ever took was from Erik Morales, in which he said his senses were totally out and he had only one thought blazing in his mind of "Fight dont fall".

I believe that certain physiological aspects could even contribute to a good chin, such as the structure of a fighters jaw, the fluid surrounding the brain, all that. But there isnt really anyway to study it, its all conjecture on my part.

Having a chin is partially mental. If you get hurt and panic, or as what happens with prospects, they get hurt, and never having been hurt they simply are surprised as hell and dont know what to do, all these things contribute to your chin.

In boxing though, a perfect punch is a perfect punch.

And some fighters, for reasons that will never be known, they can just take punches like mother****ers.

Hearns though, Yorgie hit with some very big power punches. He doesnt have a china chin, an average one. Yorgie did a good job with his counters and went for the kill.

80% genetic, 20% to do with learning how to take a punch better, in my view. The Klitschko brothers? Well, are brothers always equally good at everything? Of course not...there's a lot of genetic variation between siblings.

If you question your own chin or doubt yourself in this way you will not take a shot if you believe in yourself then you will be able to take a shot, mostly.Thats being hit by an average puncher that is,big punchers knock out allmost everyone they hit.I read an interview with Lamotta one time and when asked why he could take shots so well he put it down to him repeatedly saying to himself over and over in his mind even during fights he would just repeatedly say to himself that they cannnot hurt me they cannot hurt me they cannot hurt me.He said years later he thinks it was a type of self hypnosis.

A weak chin is not someone who gets KO'ed by a big puncher, allmost everyone gets KO'ed by punchers,a weak chin is someone who gets shook, dropped and hurt and KO'd by powder puff punchers,KO'ed by total non punchers thats having a weak chin.
