kryptonite to Pac...bobby Pac..yes its true..after he did beat him via body punch. But manny pac is another story.
Freddie Roach was quoted as saying awhile back that Soto was Pac's most dangerous opponent out there. I don't have a link, but he did indeed say that. It was awhile ago, though. Maybe two years. Hopefully this sets up a big fight for Soto against some elite competition. I really thought things were gonna take off for him after the Juarez win but they didn't really. And, the Guzman loss was really a setback.
impressive fight for soto...before im picking guerrero and linares to beat him but that fight straighten up on who is the best 130 pounder... valero fight would be very good and a victory over valero would give him a match against JMM on what could be his ticket on the HOF...
That doesn't make a lot of sense considering he said that he'd always advise Pac Man to avoid Joan Guzman.
He might've said that too, I don't know. I'm simply relaying what I remember reading in regard to a possible Soto-Pac matchup. If I had a link, I'd be happy to post it. But, I don't save articles or whatever.
No no I don't doubt you're wrong. Just seems odd that he'd say "Soto would be Manny's toughest fight" then says that he'd never advise Pac to take a fight with Guzman. It was post Soto so maybe he changed his mind?
Roach wanted the high reward, winnable (as it proved) catchweight with DLH, rather than the hungry, powerful, low reward, low profle, underrated Soto. Makes lots of sense. Soto has to justify his big stage. He has just done Davis in 4, getting down to business rather than fowling. A ruthlessly efficient fighter, at his best. He's going in the right direction. Soto is a hard and seasoned fighter. If he gets the right dance partner I'm sure he can get a semi-big stage, ala Corrales-Castillo or even Vazquez-Marquez. Valero would probably be the best opponent & it seems it may happen. Defensive runners like Guzman will always trouble Soto, but a top aggressive boxer will bring the best out of him. If Soto can get a fight with & beat Valero, this opens up some serious fights for him. Maybe not Marquez, but who knows, Juan Diaz, Anthony Peterson, Romanov, Funeka, Khan. Not all those guys will want to fight him, but most would be excellent fights if Soto can show ppl he's The Man in the post JMM/Pac era of lightweights.
if he fights Valero and wins a classic, you never know, there could be rematches. JMM doesn't have to fight any more dangerous lightweights, after beating Juan Diaz. There's still great fights out there if Soto can make ppl look at him. Rather see him vs Valero, than Guerrero, whom he'd absolutely batter.
My point had nothing to do with any of that. If Soto is his toughes opponent, why would you change tunes and say that Guzman is a nearly unwinnable fight and you'd tell Manny to avoid him? I mean which is which?
that is if valero wins the LW tourney...JMM said that he is willing to fight the winner of the tourney if he doesn't get a match against pac and pbf
I think it would be fair to say that a Pac-Soto fight would look a lot like a Pac-JMM fight--maybe without the KD's since Soto has never been down. And, a Pac-Guzman fight would be a lot of Pac chasing Guzman around the ring like Soto had to do.
Nice post. I don't care who Soto fights so long as it's some of the better fighters out there in his division. I don't wanna see anymore Francisco Lorenzo's on his resume, ya dig?
