This is a massive leap for hoppa, good on him.
Possibly his best hope is to jump on McCall early. Thoughts?

i think its great news and if he wins its great for oz boxing, but to be honest i see a early stoppage around 5-6 mccall way dont forget the bloke isnt just a freak of nature with his chin, which probably means hoppa wont be able to bully him, but the bloke is a renowned puncher and is still very competitive in the world stage before retirement, im just worried that hoppa got hurt by big bob a bigger and more mobile and dangerous fighter like mccall what they can do, but you got to give hoppa his props his setting the standard as far as trying to reach max potential, and thats why ill watch his fights over most...

too much too soon but good on him, another boxer making Mundine look like a turd for wanting and accepting big fights. McCall's chin is grade A granite and Hoppa will not be able to dent it at all. Plus, McCall even at this age is amazingly well conditioned and punches like a mule. Might be competitive for 1 or 2 rounds but i think Oliver gets Hoppa out of there before 5 rounds. Still, i look forward to it.

Great name win or lose for Hoppa......McCall has been in with the best.

I would give Hoppa a chance based on the thoughts that McCall may find it hard to get up for the fight...he must be close to 45 now.

Gomez beat him a few years back with ease and I tought McCall lost to Sinal Sam even though he got the win.

I will get this fight if its on. :good

You must remember that Mundine did take on Sven Ottke 18 months into his career.

Anyway, good on Hoppa. He's done well to get a title shot, especially in Vegas. A good show against Oliver McCall should see him get plenty of opportunities in the states. When he's on song, is quite a crowd pleaser!

Hoppa sounds quite excited about the whole deal. The IBA are not exactly the supreme 'governing body', although... this fight will probably contain more true action than any of the last half a dozen Clit Bros. match ups.

Valuev is not spoken of in nostalgic terms often either. Maybe Hoppa will enthuse a crowd, and possibly several more reasonable mix-ups in the US.

I'd rather watch Hoppa than any of the other 'title' holders at the moment.

you must also remember Mundine has natural talent and is a better athlete than Hoppa will ever be, and McCall has fought much much better opposition than Ottke IMO

even then, its still apples and oranges

If Hoppa can survive the first 2rds and put a show on, then i see him being used for more HW fights in the states.

"I'm going to Vegas to fight for a world title"

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

The sad thing is people will think he's world heavyweight champion if he does win. Credit to Hoppa for stepping up his competition because McCall is a dangerous mother ****er, but let's call a spade a spade. This isn't a world title fight and if Hopoate wins he's still not a top 20 Heavyweight.

This is better than the so-called Tommy Morrison fight proposal. Am sorry to say, though, The Atomic Bull is gonna win on a knockout.
