Opinions are unfair like that. Hearns is not a ******. He has done well with his money and invested well I hear. He keeps himself in shape. Tommy might not speak like a professional only because he is not well educated, but do not mistake that for lack of intelligence. Tommy Hearns is an intelligent guy who outboxed Benitez and Hill. You need smarts for that. The path of Tommy's career and life show decisions made with intelligence.

 

Whatever. Look at how JCC Jr has been brought up or how Jorge Paez Jr was brought up or how numerous others have been brought up. Just because you have a good pedigree and train from when you're young, it doesn't mean you'll necessarily be a good fighter. However, getting the education does guarantee that he'll be able to make a decent living without getting brain damage.

Besides, training issues aside, Hearns inherited his dad's chin but not his power. Even if he had been training since he was 3, he still wouldn't be an elite fighter.

What the hell is wrong with not wanting your son to suffer from brain damage?

 

Hearns tried to go to Steward and Steward rejected him. I don't know whether that's because his dad told Steweard to reject him, or because he didn't think he had the talent, but I think it's probably a combination of both.

It's pretty obvious that the younger Hearns does not have his fathers natural talent, speed, or power. Had he been boxing since he was child, he would have never come close to his dad in the ring. So he may have made a few million if he was lucky by name alone, then what? Now he's got a brain fully developed from not taking youthful punsihment and a college degree for his brain to use. He also has a priceless network of opportunities attached to the man and name Tommy Hearns. The table is set for Ronald Hearns to make more money outside of the ring than he ever would have made in the ring. Great job of fathering by Tommy Hearns.

 

Somone on an earlier reply mentioned that Tommy Hearns has done well with the millions he earned over the years. That is great news if true!!!!! I thought I'd heard otherwise a while back. Is it true that Tommy has done well with his money? I sure hope so, seems like a great guy.

Right. Seeing as how Tommy Hearns is still trying to box because he can't do anything else anymore, It was wise for Tommy to force Ronald away from boxing as long as he could.

 

Emanual would have been the best guy for Ronald. What it looks like is Ronald just does not have the boxing knowledge to fight well. His father was a whole different story His dad started in boxing young and ate and slept it. Different fighters totally.
