If Froch had been brave and wanted glory and recognition, he'd have fought Calzaghe

Could have, would have, should have. I say Froch could not have and will not beat Kessler. What drives you to make up weird could-have stories? Let's wait until after the Taylor fight, before trying to say something about Froch's qualities.

    No, I don't, I'm afraid...

...on this occasion, Froch didn't make a statement about why he decided to dodge Bute... :conf

I remember reading an interview with Warren a long time ago, saying, if I remember correctly, that he's tried to arrange a fight for Calzaghe against Bute, Froch, etc., when they were just prospects coming up (could have been for the Bika fight), but both Bute and Froch refused.

    I can't find the link, though...and I've looked for it...so DON'T QUOTE ME ON THAT!:deal

...if I remember right, and if this is true, Froch was offered a shot at Froch, but at that time, obviously, Froch wasn't ready...that was just after the Magee fight...

I pretty sure it was Calzaghe who pulled the plug on any fight with Froch.

If Froch didn't want to fight Calzaghe he should be recruited into the secret service for being able to live the double life he did by calling him out every day for years.

The Ashira fight was a tune-up after Calzaghe injured/broke his hand. Calzaghe's hand went in the 4th round in that fight...so I would say that he was obviously right to take a tune-up.

No reason he'd have pulled the plug...Calzaghe fought the fighters Warren put in front of him...the way he fought Bika, he'd have fought Bute, Froch, anyone...

...It's not as if Froch at the time (around the Bika fight) was looking to fight Calzaghe or anyone big...he was just happy fighting for the British Title...in fact, Froch only started talking about Calzaghe after the Reid fight...before that, he didn't believe himself he could compete at world class level. But by then, it was too late...Calzaghe had moved on.

People who've followed Froch closely, like I have, know that he's putting on an act talking the way he does about his opponents, etc. He's just trying to sell himself. He knows that given his talent and skills, he's got to cash in as much as possible whilst the going's still good. He's not stupid, Froch. In fact, he's much more intelligent than his hard-core fans.

The true test with Froch will come once he loses...whom will he fight then? What will he do then? Then, we'll know what Froch's all about.

How Ironic, Joe is the same kind of weasal that Froch is and avoided fighting anybody good in their prime. Calzaghe did this his whole career. Then retired before fighting the only in prime threat that would have beat his ass in Dawson. Please save this drivel for another day many of us arent buying it.

...blah, blah, blah...Dawson, blah, blah...please save this drivel for another day; Calzaghe fought and beat the only prime threat that would have beat his arse in Kessler.

We've had this discussion before Decebal.

Froch had already went the WBC route, and Bute was offered a WBC title eliminator against Froch.

He turned it down for whatever reason and went the IBF route, and Froch was then offered a title shot, but he was pretty much guarenteed one by the WBC, an organization he rates higher and for good reason, and so declined and went that route.

Neither ducked each other. The fact is Froch and Calzaghe was never a logical fight, because it was the case of one career just beginning to blossom and the end of another. The fight was never going to happen.

Am I dreaming or did I not reply to this silly nonsense about Bute being offered a WBC title eliminator against Froch?

Did you not read my post or what, Tommy, because I made things crystal clear!:huh

You made things crystal clear, just becuase you have an opinion on something doesn't make it right, you are trying to discredit froch with no proof yet can't take the same claims about your fighter bute.:-(

You didn't say anything about the WBC eliminator in your original post.

You did say about Froch could have fought Calzaghe, but I don't think he could for the sheer reason that he wasn't ready for the likes of Bute & Kessler back them, and wouldn't of got himself in the frame to fight JC.

Are you still claiming that Bute was offered a WBC eliminator against Froch, Tommy? Yes or No? Please answer!

Of course Froch wasn't ready for Bute or Kessler...and that's the whole point! He wasn't anywhere close to being ready for Calzaghe either, yet he went on talking about how Calzaghe was ducking him!
