It's strange............the USA seems to be a the only boxing country which doesn't have a national pro title:huh Anyone know why that is?
Because it's such a big country and there's so many states it's just never been something that's come up; I suppose also because in the old days the US used to be the focal point of boxing and most world championship fights were here.
Are there State professional titles in each division then? NB Canada is a bigger country. Do they have pro titles?
Canada is also much less populated. Some states have titles; some don't. It's just not something that's ever really come up here. We don't have a central commission like the BBBoC; every state has it's own commission and at times in the past have recognized champions.
They have titles, just not one because it's a huge country. Like the NABF title is basically recognised as a national title, though it's only North American.
Very interesting....Thanks for that info. I agree, from what I know, I have heard of some State Titles, Wyoming seems to come to mind, and maybe a couple others. I just didn't know if that was serious, or just part of a promotion to make it sound "cooler" similiar to that recent Tommy Morrison "fight". I can say with certainty, that if there is a WV Title, I've sure as hell never heard of it, except of course in Amatuer Ranks where there are certainly state champs in Golden Gloves, etc.:good
Those are all just regional bodies of the IBF, WBA, and WBO from what I remember. It's not quite like the British or Commonwealth title.
Which is the IBF's version of the above mentioned titles(although possibly only open to the USA and not all of North America). the USBO is the IBO's version of that title. It would be good if America had a National Boxing Commision, might eliminate some of the bull**** belts and also standardise some safety features etc.
