do you really think that beating a shopworn, 39-year-old veteran on the wrong side of his career arc really qualifies as valero taking it to the next level and announcing to the top of the lightweight division that he is ready for them? i don't see the logic in that, at all.

i think it will be a good victory for valero if he wins, and i think he will. but people who have been telling him to put up or shut up will continue to have every justification to say the same thing no matter the outcome of this fight.

i've been watching valero since i saw him, live, beat up some tomato can named something ford about six years ago in california and...he has done a lot to say that he is a big puncher who is a danger to any second rate fighter who is either green and never going to bloom or already fading, but nothing that i have seen that says he has the intangibles or the technical skillset to approach the top of the division.
