Not very well. That said Pavlik has great recuperative abilities. He doesn't stay hurt for long. He also ties up very well.
That's right - AA likes to cruise during rounds and clam up against the ropes. Pavlik will throw for the full 12. I'll take KP on points....
I don't think Abraham has much of a chance on points. He doesn't stay active enough to take Pavlik 12 rounds and get a points win. Abraham's best chance is to do what he normally does, stalk Pavlik, force him off the back foot and on the defensive and then when there's less than a minute left, unload with everything he has. Abraham has a nasty uppercut that could do some big damage on Pavlik. That's probably going to be his money punch if he wants to win this fight.
I think the outcome of the fight is in Pavliks hands. If he keeps a cool head and picks his shots when Abraham covers up on the ropes, I think he'll win on points. If it becomes a brawl on the other hand, I think Abraham has more power and a better chin and is more likely to knock Pavlik out than the other way round.
Right Pavlik's corner will have to constantly reinforce that he has to box if he's going to take a decision.
It also helps that Abraham doesn't throw many punches before the last minute of the round. Even if Abraham does hurt him, it's likely that he wouldn't have to fight hurt for very long, since it would probably be in the waning seconds of a round.
I'm a big fan of both boxers but in this fight I think Abraham is going to knock Pavlik out. Can't wait for this one!
For me that is the key point. If Pavlik smiles after he has taken one of Abraham's bombs, then AA can't win, but imho this is not a realistic vision. I'm convinced that Pav will show respect soon after he took the first clean punches by Abraham, but Pavlik wouldn't be the one he is if he would run away. He'll try to counter and this will be his doom. If Pav stays calm and uses his height advantage to outbox Abraham, then he will win.....but this isn't Pavlik's style.
It was during an exchange that he knocked Khoren Ghevor out. Maybe Brawl isn't the right word to describe it though. He had his chin tested pretty severley in the first Miranda fight and he's had some pretty impressive knockouts. Whether you would class any of his previous fights as brawls or not I think it would be a mistake or Pavlik to draw him into one. Abrahams best chance would be to trade with Pavlik, Pavlik on the other hand could box from the outside and I don't see any sense in him leaving himself open against such a big puncher.
Miranda had not been stopped until Kelly did it and he took some good shots from Kelly before going down. He may have become 'sensitized'.
people tend to put AA based on KP having more experience against world class and top 10 rated oppenets. really with out JT ,and B-hop it's about the same. Resume wise. i take a look at it by style and it really comes down to a 50/50 fight . AA if he can get in close and explode he could knock KP cold. but then again AA inactivity could cost him getting his forearms worn down and be stopped in about 10 because of punishment.
