Against Taylor he certainly was hurt..although a lot of that was his own doing. He has quick recovery abilities so he recovered, stopped to say some **** to Taylor and then ate another punch. Against Hopkins he was hurt (did a nasty lil double step) but recovered and held on. The guy is very similar to Cotto and Holyfield. They can be hurt but they have outstanding recuperative abilities.
yeah kelly was went ******ed when he dropped his hands against taylor, almost cost him the fight...but ended up making it quite classic. but if AA doesnt throw , he cant hurt a-1...
And if Pavlik is able to tie up Abraham and stop him from going bonzo gonzo in the last minute of every round, he'll prevent Arthur from hitting him.
Not to mention if he ties up, leans on Abraham and forces him to carry his weight, he'll tire a weight drained Abraham even more.
Has AA ever fought anyone who is physically stronger than he is? It seems to me like he bulls guys around pretty well. Pavlik is probably just as stong as Arthur. It'll be interesting to assess that aspect of things.
thats really saying something too b/c aa is a pretty stout dude. he showed how tough he is against miranda so both of these guys are tough and strong....but i'll tell you this...aa damn well may suffer a broken forearm if he pulls his elbows just under neck in that shell defense. i dunno how many of you have taken a straight shot off the forearms...they drop real quick. so who knows...this may actually be an all out war once aa realizes he cant keep his arms up like that and has to trade.
i agree it doesnt happen that often anymore but god it hurts... but not too many people play possum like aa for a couple minutes and let you fire away. that may work when people are throwing looping punches like miranda did in their second fight and leaves themselves wide open for a counter (like miranda did)...but it won't work on pav if pav sticks to the gameplan. those gloves will drop if he doubles and triples up on the jab and and follows up with a straight right to that shell of aa's
Pavlik has mentioned in the past about beating on arms, elbows, shoulders to break guard. I guess many too many boxers are lured by the temptation to head hunt?
I think Abraham has the style, power, and skills to beat Pavlik. I think Abraham can counter effectively out of his guard and Pavlik will find it hard to land that signature straight right hand of his on Abraham.
i like booradleys long ass thread it made a lot of since a really sums it up kelly pav breaks aa jaw and wins by a stoppage mudway through the fight
